hi, I bought a used ski. seller didn't tell me to mix gas but after looking into the motor after some problems I think that the oil injector is bypassed. but I need to know. I am 2stroke intelligent but jet ski dumb if that makes sense. here are a couple pics. look between the carbs. I am using a mirror behind the motor so bear with me on the pics. yes I know this ski is a hack job. but dang it fires up in 1 second. I could ask a hundred different questions if some1 had the time to answer them. thanks you for looking.

Yes. That is an oil pump block off kit... Is the oil tank still in there? There SHOULD still be two oil lines about 3/4" size still attached with oil for rotary shaft. Premix at 40 to 1 ratio. The two oil lines should be at center lower portion of engine and one in the back exhaust side. Very important!

You must be seeing something I'm not, because I can't really tell. I can see a big nail probably blocking off maybe one of the injectors, and that's about it.

You didn't say what ski you have and I also can't tell what motor you have, if it's a 717 the oil pump is located on the intake manifold under the carbs., if it's a 787 the oil pump is located on the front mag. cover.

its hard to see. but a Philips screw is holding on the plate. remember its a pic of a mirror on the side of the engine.. its a 93 seadoo xp 657. after reading a bunch of posts im pretty sure the pump is blocked off. they put nails in the injector tubes from the pump. I don't see any lines running to the carbs from the pump. the tubes with the nail come from the pump. the block off plate(if that what it is) is on the side of the engine facing the outside of the hull.

yes the oil tank is still there. yes it has oil .there is 1 line at bottom of tank that go's to the oil pump. there is 1 line on the top of the tank that goes to the exhaust side of engine. on the oil tank there is another line that is short going to what looks like a check valve. is this kosher? lucky I didn't blow it up not mixing oil with the gas I put in it. please reply.

You are very lucky!
If you look at any block off kits they come with the plate that has an o-ring to seal the plate to the intake manifold and 2 plastic/rubber caps to seal off the oil ports on the intake. The tube with nails are just asking for an air leak as well as a toasted engine. The plate also looks to be home made so there is a chance that will leak too. The problem is if there are any intake air leaks the engine will get too much air and a a result too little fuel and since these engines depend on oil in the fuel for lubrication they go boom without it. I would buy the correct kit and install it and premix the oil and fuel and you should be good to go.

I hear ya. I worked on my banshee from day1. used to drag race it doing all the work myself. had it up to a 472bb cheetah motor. I know 2strokes and how to test and tune. that being said, jetski yes 2stroke. only similarity to my quad. plugs were black as black. it fowled the plugs. but I have about 20 of them. I think they just dumped in a bunch of oil without measuring it. I found the block off plate because I was going to pull the carbs and back off the main jets 2 sizes. being I have 2 of every size known to man.lol. now I need to start from scratch 1st by draining all the gas. I use maxima super m fully synthetic at 40:1 for my banshee so that isn't a problem. ill test drive it in an inland place this time so I don't have to get towed back again from lake erie. grrr. do a plug read and go from there. these are not as easy to work on as my quad. that's for sur. thank for responding.i will fix the injector lines. do I need to pull the motor for the block off plate?

use api-tc synthetic oil for premix, i'm not as concerned with what's in the oil tank, just talking gas tank.
get a measuring cup (west marine, $5)
consider draining gas and starting with fresh gas, proper mix to avoid problems.
(always test in back waters vs open water, and preferably with a buddy with you)
no need to downsize jets if they are stock.
agree that if there is any doubt, replace the blockoff with the proper kit.
