was hoping to pull the carburetors off of our 1996 gtis and check on the internal filters. can I just re use the existing base gaskets or is it recommended to just put new base gaskets on before reinstalling them? if replacements are necessary, anyone have a part number handy?

If you are careful and they are in good shape you can reuse them. For parts, you can click on the parts link in the upper right hand side of this screen.

Yep... what he said. BUT... if they are the originals... they are going to be hard and crushed. If you don't want issues... buy some new ones.

They would be original. Never had them off before. Kinda confused on the diagram. Tony, could you tell me the part number I would needed to do this? If so, thanks in advance! twin carb 1996 717.
