idropped my iphone yesterday... It ilanded on the icorner and iSHATTERED!!!! iCRAP! Why would a company design a phone with glass all the way to the iedge? You have to put an icover over the thing to protect it from idrops so why make it nice ilooking? Stupidest ithing EVAR!!!!! iSteve lives on in my ithoughts.. although they aren't igood!!!!! iPOS!!!!

It's not to bad to change the glass yourself. I did an original 3g, and the parts were only about $20 from ebay. AND... to be honest, the sensitivity of the aftermarket glass was better.


The only "Gotch-a's" you need to look for is the VERY thin cable for the front button, and the cable for the speakers. (on the bottom) Since the screen is glued to the LCD frame, you have to slit it with a razor to get it apart. Just work slow, and don't pull too hard, and you will be fine.

I did a touch 4th gen and it was also glued. Broke the antenna in the process. Had to replace it twice before it was all over. The antenna was glued to both sides if that makes sense.

From the video I watched, this one isn't glued. You go in from the back and take everything out before unscrewing the screen from the frame.... after removing the battery, covers, speakers, button, unplugging 8 or so tiny plugs, 10 screws holding the screen to the frame.... I'm not going to risk it. $85 later it will have a new screen. Cheapest screen I found was about $30. Most of them come from outside of the US. I think there is a shop in Lincoln that will do them. Probably going that route since I have so many 'i' things.... i need the phone to work. Backup phone is a droid which I actually liked better, but my daughter needed a new phone so I gave it to her and got the iphone. If I didn't have the Escort live, I would probably switch back to droid.

Get yourself an otter box case. Ive dropped mine a ton of times....still looks new. Add a warranty through a third party too....i use square trade and it is zero hassle.

I don't want a huge honkin case on my phone. I'd rather have a bigger screen than carry a huge case than does nothing for me. My rant is the glass going to the edge. Looks nice but you have to cover it so it doesn't break. If that's the deal then cover the edge so it isn't so fragile like most of the other mfg's do. I looked at cases when I bought it but didn't want to hide a beautiful phone.

the lifeproof cases are not as horkin as the otterbox, but are waterproof and shockproof, so thats a plus.

In these parts, "honkin" is what ya do when yer headed over to the walmart and the wife says she'll be ready to go in 1 minute and 20 minutes later yur still sittin outside in your truck waitin fer her.

"horkin" is when ya got a big ole gob a snot runnin down the back of yer throat and ya spit it out

I actually saw a headset plugin with a phone on the end of it at target the other day. Funny stuff.

As for the case... Screen cost $30 on ebay. Ordered it today. So I make my phone "honkin" or "horkin" with a big ugly case that cost the same as 3 screens and doesn't fit in my pocket anymore, has bumps all over it and hides the beauty of the glass going all the way to the edges and I have to remove it to put it in the dock in my car and charger on my nightstand? But I can go swimming with it! Now that you mention it, I was swimming the other day and needed to make a call. ;-) Just teasing. Very nice case. Probably the nicest most protective cover I've ever seen. And this being a PWC/jetboating forum, it does make sense.

All Im saying is that if the glass didn't go to the edges, it wouldn't need to be covered.

Oh, I ordered a silicone cover today for $6 shipped to protect the edges. F&$^#@!!!

lol, my buddy has one and he answers emails and calls in the shower if he's running late. there are also mounts that the case can clip into so you can attach it to any of the gopro mounts to record video, etc.

Stopped in at the istore today. $150 to fix. They said no way they can be fixed and would give me a new one. $200 iget 2 more replacements within 2 years. Told him I was going to try the screen replace myself and if it didn't work I would replace it with a droid that the screen doesn't go all the way to the edge in glass, has a way bigger screen and I'm not raped iraped everytime I turn around! I was nice to him. No reason not to be. Just frustrated with his greater than droid attitude. He didn't care. They are very busy!!! As you can tell, I'm not a big apple person to begin with. Wish I never would have switched...
