I was just curious to see if the majority of owners carry insurance. Do most of you who have insurance carry liability only or coverage for the watercraft also?

It is wel worth the cost of $250 a year. They cover the boat and liability. Also covers towing and any possible fluid spills on the water.

I didn't for many years... but now that I got older, and have more to loose... it's worth the $100 year.

I don't think there are any laws saying you must have it... but it's cheap, and good to have if there are ever any problems.

insurance

For sure...I carry full coverage. Way to much to loose if something out of the ordinary were to happen.

Worth the $200 per year for sure.

where are you guys insured, i checked on my 2 gtx's and they wanted like $1280.00 a year!!! where did it all go wrong?

I had much better luck with a company that only deals with boat insurance. Try one like that. Boatus.com

Wow! The variation in prices is astonishing!!!

I use progressive, and bought it in KustomKarl's driveway before I drove the boat off his property.

I pay just a touch over $100 a year.

I also have 2 of my 3 cars under progressive, maybe that makes a difference, but I wouldn't think a $200-300 difference.

There is no law requiring you to have insurance. However, it is basically hedging your income and asset against an unexpected occurrences. If you own and operate a boat, you know what that is.

Funny how saving a few hundred dollars versus paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars is such a dilemma. As in Nike's logo..JUST DO IT!:hurray::hurray:

My boats and bikes are with Progressive. I'm 38, I have good credit (that's a biggy) and I live in a state that's cold 1/3 of the year.
