Ok, I must have installed the inline fuel filter wrong, but can not figure out what went wrong. I installed in
Inline fuel filter during the spring before the season, on both of my crafts 97 GTI and 96 XP. The 96 was hard starting each time after install but would start, 8 to 10 trips to the river, but I just figured it was the new carbs I also installed at the same time, but then this week, the first day out it would not start. I noticed the filter was dry, no fuel in it. so I took the filter out of the system. The 96 started right up, ran two days, no problem starting. then there is the 97, it would start just fine the first 8 to 10 trips, but on the last trip in June, the 97 suffered a bolt breaking off the carb and falling down the carb and killing rotary valve, so after motor repair tried to start, no fuel in the inline fuel filter, took out the filter, started just fine, was able to run two full tank fills of fuel with out any problems. What went wrong, I noticed both inline filters would not be full of fuel, would always have air at the top of the filter when I would check it out, when I had the seats off, but never noticed the condition of the fuel filter while running. Does it need to be mounted below the carbs ?
Thanks for the help, I would like to have the extra protection, both crafts have the fuel lines replaced, 96 has new carbs, and the 97 carbs are only 4 seasons old, always with new fuel lines.
