well, after having my ski sunk twice, doing all leak tests, etc...i finally hung the thing up like a pig on the davit, sprayed water in the hull, and you'll never guess...two holes actually, right under the rear foot mats..look at pics...it looks to me as if there were rivets once there, from factory, and now there's just holes...im HOPING to god these arent just "drain holes" made from the factory, but there are also a few other rivets in that area that arent leaking...should i plug these two holes, or are they meant to be there? when the ass end of the ski is in the water on the boat ramp over night, it floods out unless i keep the drain plug out...
so i'm HOPING to plug these tomorrow, as well as reinforcing the other rivets that are almost on their way out...
let me know...thanks!

Looks like slug holes from a 32.
You sur' that the CG wasn't after your butt one time......LOL.

Glad you found the leaks!

Those are rivet holes from the original traction mats. I would guess the glue on the back of the hydro-turf kept them from leaking for several years. The bad news is there's a bunch more under the mats, probably not plugged either.

Ugh. What a poor job the previous owner did on the mat install. Like Lou said, I bet none of the other holes are filled either, around 20 of them altogether. Fill them with epoxy/silicone/jb weld/etc.

yea, there is...theres like twenty of them all together..these were the only two with full blown holes...yea i took the rest of the mat(s) off and just to be sure,im gonna plug all of them with MARINE-TEX..when i got home, i looked at my spare hull, and it has the original mats, and there are rivets there with the original mats..thanks guys.let me know if theres something better than marine tex..

Glad you found the leak, seems like a easy fix. Marine-Tex is great stuff, have used it on boats for years without any problems. Or you could put the original mats on it but you would still have to seal around the rivets. Good luck and have fun down in Florida. Used to live in Fort Myers for 20 years. It is starting to get colder up here and that is when I really miss South Florida. Summer all year long.

If you've run on the hose more than 2 minutes flushing, the carbone ring may have gotten hot from no water lubrication (hull must be in water to immerse the ring) and will leak when under way. I leave ski tied to trailor and back in, then run engine til warmed, lookin for leak(s).
I've found hose, fittings, welsh plugs, gas line, rivets, sponson bolt, and carbon ring leaks, oil line leaks, steering, vts boot leaks, hull cracks, ride-plate bolts, useing that trick.

yea well, I applied the marine tex the all the rivet holes yesterday, then kept the ass end in the water(on the boat ramp, cuz i dont have a trailer), and kept the drain plug in overnight, hoping to see if this fixed my problem, (cuz when i hung it up on the davit, it ONLY leaked water thru those two rivet holes, AND i sprayed the hell outta the intake grate area, and there was NO leak there, only the rivet hulls on the deck)...

And sure enough, came in this morning(the ski is kept at my job), and sure enough, hull is filled with water again...

So, im glad i plugged the rivet holes, so it doesnt take on water thru there when im riding it,

But now it looks like the search continues....

Just b/c nothing leaked while spraying the grate area, doesn't mean that if its sitting in water overnight, with constant water pressure on it, that it wont leak...

so, any ideas guys? is there a chance that i wont see it while spraying a hose, but the carbon seal could leak while having pressure on it overnight?
makes no sense, let me know what you think...
Thanks!

and bill,
I sent you a reply on the other thread about the buzzer, just wanted to know if the loose spark plug caps, the screw on metal ones on top of the spark plugs, if they were REALLY loose and rattling around under the boot, would that cause momentary cut-out at WOT for about a second or two? was cutting out on me last night...

There's other threads on skis sinking if left overnight.
I doubt you have waves coming over ski overnight sinking it through the holes. Its more likely the carbon ring..

Get an electric pump and run a switch. Only thing you have to have good batteries and tender....

ocod, well, you're right....it was actually something else....
a whole new issue, with a hole nother set of problems...
didn't wanna post separate issues on this thread, so i started another one...you won't beleive what i found...
check out the other thread, its called: motor was LITERALLY dropped in..Was previous owner a moron, or no?

Let me know what you think man...this thing is like the ski from hell, i sware..
Thanks for looking....
