I feel stupid for asking, but is a 1994 XP 2-Stroke?

Again I feel stupid, but is a 94 xp a 2-stroke? I just always thought of 2 strokes as gas and oil mixed and 4 strokes as separate but now I think I'm wrong looking at this forum. But it's not like I haven't tried to search! I googled it, I searched these forums, I looked at the seadoo history page and i'm not a big motor head. So again at the risk of feeling really stupid, is a 1994 XP a 2-stroke?

Yes a 94 XP is a two stroke, all 90's and early 00's are two stroke, BRP started phasing out two strokes, in favor of 4-tek's in early to mid 2000's.

The only stupid questions are the ones that are not asked.

You are correct on the gas and oil thing, the only difference with these ( and with many other 2 strokes) is they now use an oil injection system, where the oil gets pumped into the engine at a variable rate separate from the fuel.

correct, 2 Strokes... gas & oil ARE mixed...

either in the fuel tank (like a weed wacker)
or via oil injection pump

I think thetered was confused, since he thought on 2 strokes the oil/gas is mixed together in the gas tank but when he found the oil tank his reasoning went out the door without realizing about the oil injection system.

Probably a common question for someone new to motors or Seadoos.

Exactly! Right on the money, thanks everyone for helping clear that up for me and not making me feel to stupid! lol
Every two stroke I had before was gas & oil mixed in the tank so I just associated that with the difference between the two.

A lot of people here with great help without being an A$$ about it like other forums. But like said before it sure is a 2 stroke.

Squirt, squeeze bang fart.

So what kind of engine would this be, doesn't it describe about all internal combustion engines, including a Wankel?

A two stroke engine fires each cylinder once per revolution, this is a very effective way of making power, one of high volumetric efficiency. Many large commercial diesel locomotives are propelled by 2 stroke engines:

I was just thinking... what if we put a diesel 2 stroke in a jet ski? they do not burn oil (correct)?

should have less parts than a 4 stroke, less weight.

or better yet invent a 2 stroke that doesn't burn oil... why isn't that a thing?!

I like the idea of a nuclear powered ski, one that uses a non-toxic fuel that lasts for nearly an infinite period. Might have to start with a toxic fuel to get the ball rolling though, wonder if the NRC would grant me a plutonium license based on religious-use rights?
