It said suit rebuild or parts.
Runs great after charging battery and cleaning fuel selector :)

I was only after it for the engine to rebuild as a spare for my challenger 1800.

Nice score and a sweet looking ski to boot! Gotta love the easy "rebuild", lol.

I just love it when the ad posters don't know what's really wrong with it....you buy it then new battery and clean a few things and it's running.....good score.

But I would still replace all the gray tempo fuel lines if it still has them, add a fuel filter (Fram G2 works well) replace oil filter with OEM.

What oil was the owner using?

That's really rare, usually the "needs tune up" "needs battery" means the engine is Doo Doo

95 XP800!!!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

Sorry for not replying, I've been out riding it :)
Didn't last long, I sold it yesterday for $2200

Not sure if I upgraded or not. Just picked up a 99 Gsx rfi for $200 less then I sold the 97gsx.
Fuel pump replaced last week.
Seems to run sweet.

Strange trade off to me. I would of rode the chit out of that 97

End of the day It means I paid $350 for the 99 Gsx rfi in a trailer.
The 99 is so much smother and quieter than the 97.
97 revved quicker that's for sure!

Rfi's are way better than di's but still no fun once you start having issues. Still though, you came out on top

I agree, probably won't have it long enough to have issues. (Famous last words right?) Lol

both skis are nice scores I would have kept the 97 one of my favorite looking skis. I got to ride a 97same and a 2000 same thing this summer the 110hp carb 97 was a little more low end responsive spin and jump better but the 120hp rfi would out run it in the top end. a few dollars spent on clapping out the 97 and it would out ride the rfi in every way. the rfi is lacking in the power upgrade area but is nice not having to do any real tuning on it. also my x4 walked away from both no contest could toy with them vary fun.

Yup. Still 110hp, just a bit better with fuel economy and emissions.
99 rfi is a couple mph slower than the 97 on paper as well I believe.
Also, as far as I'm aware they are the same hull just a different colour scheme.
I like the 99 colours over the 97.
