That's good voltage too.

did your meter have a Frequency setting.

If so we can check if the pulse coil is working right or not.

? Not familiar with frequency testing

That meter doesn't have the option to measure freequency

I'm trying to find a way to tell if the pulse coil is sending a signal to the mpem.

So if you could have done frequency, your meter would have shown twice what ever the RPM was and that would tell you that it is picking up a signal from the rotor and its not broken or bent out of the way.

Could it.be possibly flooding. Somehow? If I walk away for 20 minutes then she cranked

Weird.

Just how much are you using the primer?
I have one too and all I do is pump it until the gas reaches the first carb and give it two shots. No more than that and it floods my gsx and I have to crank it for 10 seconds before it catches.

Did you set your plug gap ?

Didn't check gap on plugs...using ngk br8es...I usually prime it on initial try to crank....Two pulls

The gap in a new plug is almost twice what it should be.
That's like asking the ignition to fire 4 plugs in series. Gap is really small.

I just gap my plugs to 0.020", I figure they open up as they wear. Smaller gap is easy to jump at WOT, less chance of a miss. Wide gap is necessary for lighting off a lean mixture and that shouldn't be the case for our 2-strokers, hopefully.

On the primer, make sure it's no dripping fuel into your carb throat, a small amount of pressure can build up in the fuel tank and I can just imagine fuel getting pushed up through the primer and dripping into the throat. Remove (loosen) fuel cap to avoid pressure in fuel tank as a test for crankcase flooding.

Or maybe you have a lose connection somewhere, your clock is resetting to 12:00 still right?

Hopefully you got it going already....

Hey, how bout an update, did you get it running? I thought you were getting close.

It's running but seems to have a mind of its own when cranking. Once cranked...it's good

Had to drag this up again, I went through something very much like this a week ago.

Same symptoms and everything.

Turns out it was the coil wires going into the coil that corroded off just enough to spark sometimes. (mainly when the plugs were out)

It would spark consistently and seem strong, but only kick and make a bit of smoke randomly.

Then once we replaced the coil with a brand new one, started first kick and then the smoke rolled out of the garage :P
Have to say there is a huge difference in spark intensity with a new coil.

That's a great point and I've seen that happen my fair share as well (connector corrosion). Another one is the coil breaking down once it heats up, had a bunch of fun with that a couple times too.

And yeah, a hard starting motor due to a marginally good coil can and does happen, most definitely.

I'm glad you brought this back up...The gtx is still not cranking right. Takes forever to get going
