Hi is 300 hrs a lot for a 2002 gtx 4tec with no paperwork for work done just what the man says. No where to water test it

The 300hrs means a lot less than no water test. It could be destroyed in 80hrs or still excellent at 500, no way to know how it was ridden so hours don't mean as much. No water test means to me I'm buying a non running machine and pay accordingly otherwise it's tested period

Concur w/ Greg. my '02s have 130 hours on them, but I've done all the pre-season and post-season maintenance every year, and I keep records. I would not by a ski without testing it on the water. Do you have any watercraft maintenance experience or are you going in blind as to inspecting mechanical/electrical systems?

Problems (doesn't include routine mx or wear rings) on my '02

1. Replaced two j-pipes due to exhaust leaks (same ski twice)
2. Replaced both information centers due to water intrusion/corrosion. (That's a $600.00 part!)
3. Replaced one cam sensor
4. Replaced one MPEM ($250) due to loose AMP connector socket on MB.
5. Replaced one carbon-seal and boot. (not really defective; water was coming in from O.P.A.S. valve)

Then engines run great, and they don't use oil.

Steering and reverse gate cables will probably need to be flushed with lubricant.

With power on the ski, you can press "set" 5 times and any fault codes stored in the ECU will appear on the information center. Some codes are nuisance codes; some could indicate serious problems. You can see what those codes mean on the forum sticky.

Up here 120-180 for an 02 is pretty common. Of course 'up here' is Ontario Canada and while we get in the 80's or higher for June/July/Aug, realistically, our season is only 4-5 months long.

Sometimes more troubles come from less riding, or especially from storage cycles where storage can be 7 or 8 months.

I ride in Quebec but I live by the lake all year round. I can ride a lot to get to the beach in a year (especially when the tourists have left...)! I must have put 60 hours per year for the last three years although I have slowed down a bit. Our lake has so many surf and wake boats that I just don't ride anymore on weekends.
