So I got my impellers from SBT and the shaft tool, stopped at harbor freight and picked up a nice vise, got home bolted the vise to my bench, put the pump in the vise, were ready to rock here no?

I grabbed my big ass ratchet and tried to turn it, no go. So then I grab my 2" x 2' pry tube and im gunna twist this thing off here and the nails in the top of my bench start slowly coming out, I noticed it but just ignored it cause im twisting this fker off there, Ya no i'm not, it wont turn.

So then I grab the torch and the 3" x 4' pry tube and a neighbor thats so gracious to hold the pump while I twist this thing off. I heat it, Its hot as sht, I crank it, It moved! Like 1/16 of an inch! It made a horrible loud creak! So I put the torch to it and hit it again and thats when my whole bench came apart and collapsed! lol It was a double decker too!

Time to reevaluate. Ask neighbor to let me use his vise, He agrees. Back to it, flame it and twist. It took two grown men with a pry bar over pry bar over the ratchet 20 minutes to get that thing off. Im going to take a wild guess and say this impeller has never been removed and the threads had literally started to mend. Bearings looked good surprisingly.

You guys think its time for a new shaft?

IDK but the threads look flatten to me. I would have used WD40 or something similar on it first and really let it soak in overnight.

that thing was cross threaded on to there. either re-cut the threads with the right size die or get a new shaft. i'm surpised you got it off lol

I know man, I have never in my life experienced something that was THAT hard to get out and I still have another one I have to do!

This little adventure is getting expensive. Every weekend I'm like, Im going to have them in the water next weekend! And I just keep finding more shit wrong, Its literally never ending. I haven't had them started sense March and that was the day I bought em. Sense then I have just been tearing into em trying to make everything right.

Definitely cross threaded. I'm not sure why somebody would keep trying to tighten that up with all that resistance.

I saw one of your other posts mentioning Monroe. You from the area?

Powerslave, I saw your thread when I came to post mine and almost hijacked it because our problems were so similar. Wanna get together, have lunch and talk about it? Hahaha.

Seadoobuddy, Believe me man, that would have done NOTHING in this case. I wish you could have seen it, it was unbelievable. We looked like two little girls trying to get that thing off.

Scott, Thats where i'm trying to get to. Right now im trying to prevent pulling them to the lake 10 times and then having to pull them right back out. I'm putting the time and money into them and expect them to put out when i'm done. Wait, That sounds strikingly similar to something else. lol.

Hghgrad, Yea now that I think about it, it looks like some idiot took an impact to it and didn't know when to let off. Im in Oakland, not Monroe. Thats just where I was going to put the skis in for the trip. The more research I do the more that trip looks like its gunna be a real ass kicker but I didn't expect it to be flowers anyways so were doing it!

So I just finished pulling the other jet pump off and to my surprise it doesn't have a seadoo impeller. What impeller do you guys think this is? I wonder what SBT is going to say, I have one OEM and one ?.

It's a solas impeller, it should have a model and size and pitch engraved on it. This isn't good news either as you will want both impellers to be the same. What do the threads on the first impeller look like? If it's not useable I would get another solas impeller to match this one.

The good news is this is a premium impeller and looks to be in almost new condition.

I want to see photos of the work bench.

I've never had an issue removing an impeller, but I do mostly (if not 100%) freshwater.

Lou,
What your not seeing is the underside of the impeller where its bent. I know this is a better impeller and I hate to send it to SBT for a stock replacement but those replacements are already at my house. The threads on the first impeller look ok, But that doesn't really matter as I have the remanufactured ones sitting here.

To late I already cleaned it up and took some of the wood out to the burn pit, It was a disaster, I should have took pics.

you did turn it righty loosey right??? stupid question but ive done dumber things in my life...

I turned it counter clockwise till it came off.

should have went to impros. they would swap you for what you've got. deals can be found on ebay too. i resently got a solas xo in like new condtion for 50 bucks

So this impeller came out no problem, You were right Lou its a Solas Concord 14/22. The experience was night and day, That other impeller was definitely cross threaded. The bend in the solas is pretty apparent in the pics. Its a $200 dollar impeller. I think im gunna let SBT own it and run the remanufactured stock impellers this season and then when winter gets here I'll swap them out with some nice ones.

Is 14/22 a little steep? or is that a good pitch for the X4?
