hey guys i am looking at getting back into the skis since i sold off all mine when we were having out son, now i am looking at 2 sets, first is a set of 1998 seadoo xps ltds, both with blown motors, but i can get new motors from sbt for about 2400 and i can get the set with clear tittles and nice trailer for 1k or i found a nice set of 1996 seadoo xps they have the 110hp motor instead tho and they are pretty clean and 1 fires up just fine and the other needs a starter soiliniod, he will go down to 2k for the set, what is the better deal and why, i am leaning towards the 98s becuase of the bigger motors and would be new motors, but the 96s look cool. also not sure if i like the hull design on the 96s

Having rode a 96 and I own a 00 xp I would go with the limited and two new motors would mean a clean bill of health and why so sure they nees motors maybe just need a topend

i think they need all new motors the guy said that they flipped them and then they got flipped over the wrong way taking water in the motor so i am sure they are done for, but i think two new motors would be the best, but i have also heard good things about those 110hp motors on the 96s

96xp'z

Hands down, bro. Both sets, are single passenger, and yet, even though the 96's are 110cc, your 1/3 weight off, from the xp-l (525lbs) each. i dont doubt, both sets run'n right, the 96's will be even if not faster, than the xp-l, also, the limited's are a nightmare to work on, plus the 110cc, man, you can run them underwater, and still wont break.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing man those 96 look good and seem to be a good deal and have always heard there dependable so Ima go with them sat. Any thing to look out for on them? Or hood things to do to the 110hp motors

Thanks guys I'm going to get them tomorrow morning hope all is good he says one needs a starter relay so hope that's not a ..... to change.

Well make sure you check them out...having a compression gauge, a good battery, a vise grip, and a flashlight is a good idea. Check out the pumps, props, and bottom of the machine for damage.

You can jump the solinoid with the vise grips and get a compression test. If you cannot get a compression test expect the worst, and price it accordingly.

He said that you can touch the 2 prong and it will fire up after a while. He said he put all new fuel lines and cleaned the crabs last year. If they get me by this summer I don't mind throwing new motors in next year and they'd b good to go. I don't think its a bad price for 2 skis n the trailer. I need to go get a compression tester
