I have the Seadoo brand oil in the reservoir doing the continous loop through the crank. This stuff is $30 a gallon and I was wondering what alternative oil there is for mixing it in the fuel. The closest place to me that sells Seadoo oil is an hour away. What do you guys suggest?

Do a search on Oil Debate and you'll find a ton of info.

Some members use Quick Silver from Walmarts, it says for seadoo on the bottle. You still don't want to mix oils. I only use seadoo oil in my seadoos. I buy it by the case lot. I never have any oil issues.

Mail order sea doo oil. The shipping costs are usually about the same as my time driving to the dealer and buying it there (at a higher cost per bottle, so it nets about the same)

Where is the best place to get it mail order? The dealer 5 minutes from my house has the XPS synthetic for 48 a gallon. How does that compare?

I'm going to keep the Seadoo oil running through the loop but was wondering how critical it would be just using a different brand for pre-mix.

The thought of ordering it online has crossed my mind as well. Also, I'm using for pre-mixing the regular XPS. For pre-mixing only, is there a major difference with using the sythetic over the standard?

I use amsoil interceptor, mail ordered by the case and all other lubrication stuff. Pay $10 for perfered customer and unit price goes down even more. It's the only other oil I know of that meets API-TC specifications.

The last time I bought seadoo oil was when I had to par $75 at dealer when on vacation a few years ago.

Btw, it is more important to use quality oil in the cumbustion chamber than the rotary valve cavity. You could probable even use 30 wt like is called for in 947 counterbalance cavity.

Man, I'm all late and wrong getting caught up in the oil debate. My reservoir in continuous loop has the synthetic blend and I'm about to go through my second tank of fuel using the mineral, which I now see I've grabbed by mistake. Being that it's just pre-mix, I should be ok right? It says on the back of the bottle that it's fine for just pre-mix. I guess I'm not technically mixing the blends by having synthetic in the loop and mineral in the pre-mix. Very interesting stuff indeed with the oil debates I read.

As others have asked, where are you guys getting your oil from online? I've come across some on ebay here and there.

Why would you premix and continue to use the oil injection setup? Seems like overkill to me. Wouldnt the excess oil even cause problems with the plugs and the boat running properly?

He’s not. When you disconnect the injector… you still have the leave the tank hooked up, and allow it to flow oil into the center of your crankcase to lube the rotary valve gears. If the seals are good… then the engine wont’ use any oil from the tank.

That leaves the next question in mind… if you go closed loop… when should you change the oil? I guess now the oil in the tank should be changed once a year with the filter.

What do you guys think??

I was wondering the same thing. There has to be a period of time this would need to be changed I would think. But I could be way off on that thinking.

I don't think you have to change it. At least on the skis, most loop the lines and remove the tank. Just monitor oil level in looped lines and add when it's low. As stated before it won't use any oil unless crank seals are leaking.

Frankly I would keep or repair oil injection, you will burn much less expensive oil and you don't have to worry about someone not mixing the premix correctly.
