Riding the ski. We fell off and it rolled over. We turned it over counterclockwise like we should. I got back on, but 8 times they tried to get on and every time they just rolled all 3 of us back in the water. Drove me nuts. Told one of them to swim in. Tried to crank it. It read Hi-Temp and wouldn't even try to crank. Got it towed to the ramp, trailered it out, tried to crank it two hours later and same thing.

What should I do to diagnose the problem? Any advice?

I'm about to look in the manual and see what's up.

You got water into some connector somewhere.

Pull the seat, and open all the electrical connections, and the electrical boxes, and make sure they are dry. If that all checks... then you may need to replace the temp sender. BUT... since it was rolled, and towed... you need to get it to crank FAST !!!!! There could be water in the engine. I would pull the spark plugs, and jump the solenoid, just to make sure the inside of the engine is dry. THEN... spray in a good dose of fogging oil.

At the very least, remove the plugs and jump the solenoid to crank the engine. This will get the water out of the cylinders if it is in there.

Get a good fan and let it blow moving air across the electronics. A

Ok... I checked electrical. Seems good. I pulled plug wires and put caps on ground posts. Removed spark plugs. I held throttle lever first, then put on key, then cranked it. A lot of water came out. I didn't do this more than 30 seconds at a time with a couple minutes rest between until it was barely sprinkling water. Put about an ounce of oil in each plug hole. Put spark plugs back in, but left plug cables on posts. Cranked it the same way to get the oil moving around for lube. I noticed this pushed some water out of the back and bottom of the ski. Let it rest. Did it again. Let it rest. Then put plug cables back on spark plugs and tried to crank normally. It cranks and then died right after. Tried it three times. I'm letting it rest now and going to try to crank again in a second. Why could be wrong?

Tried it again. Still won't start, and it is reading high temp again. I took plug cables back off, put them on posts and took the spark plugs out again. I pulled throttle, put the key on, and turned it over to spit more liquid out. Not much but some. Any ideas what I should do now? Should I take the engine out and dry and lube it somehow?

Well I turned it over a few times and got as much fluid out as possible. Then I sprayed the spark plugs with carb cleaner and sprayed a little carb cleaner in each spark plug hole. Tightened everything up and back together. Have it some gas as I started it and it cranked right up. I ran it about 20 seconds. Then I let it sit a few minutes. I flushed the system with a garden hose. Going to he some lubricant and run that through as well this afternoon. Hope all is well. What do you guys think?

You were supposed to upright your ski with a clockwise rotation (when viewing from the rear) not counter clockwise.

you probably dont want to hear this, but, that little bit of running the motor, isnt enough, take it to a lake, run it probably at least 30 minutes, this in turn will heat everything up and and dry out the water in your crankcase, then when you get home and flush it, fog it also -- there is a little black plug on your air box, run it and spray fogging oil in it, then after you shut it off, pull sparkplugs, and clean em, wait a day, then put the plugs back in ... btw, dont wait and do this, do it today ...

right on top of air cleaner there is a little rubber plug, that is what it used for -- fogging, and , just a 3 second squirt with engine running and then shut it off...if its missing, then you should replace it

The rubber plug is missing. My buddy is taking it out this Saturday. None of the places in town had one of the rubber plugs. What can I use temporarily while one is on order?

your buddy taking ski out saturday ??? or did you run it today at least 30 minutes in the lake ?? if you wait to run it saturday, crank will be rusted ...motor will be locked up by saturday .. this engine needs run, back trailer in water and run it ...

No no no... I ran it today after cleaning it out. I'm about to do the post-op flush and fogging oil, then take the plugs out, clean them, let them dry, reinstall tomorrow. Then my buddy is taking it out Saturday.

The last question I was asking is, after I've done all this, can my buddy ride it Saturday without the rubber plug in the air filter box? If not, what can I use to plug it with until one comes in on order?

water wont get in there on riding normal, that high up, ski will be under water, fogging a motor puts oil in it everywhere air gets in it, just like how your oil injection system works, putting oil in sparkplug holes, just lubes inside of cylinders, the problem is when someone rolls a ski, it gets inside lower end, and gaulds up crank and crank bearings, then you are done !!

Right on... Thanks! I think my neighbors will kill me if I flush and fog it right now. It's 10pm here. Think it will be ok to do that at sunrise, or should I go to another place where I can do it tonight?

After a friends idiot boyfriend burned up the starter trying to crank my ski after flooding the motor, I bought a used starter from minnetonkas bro in Austin and installed it as soon as we got back home. I cranked it up and revved the crap out of it for 3-4 minutes at about 10:30, but I wasn't about to leave it sitting full of water till morning. Your neighbors might not be as nice as mine though. You do want to get thing on the water and run it for at least an hour, and hard, to make sure everything gets dried out. If you have to have a buddy take it out, just make sure he understands the issues with it.
