Hey guys, I am a newbie at jetski's and was wondering how I can tell if I have a 951 or 951 DI. I was thinking that it was just a regular 951 but I went and looked at the motor today and noticed the RAVE valves have blue tops not red like the usual 951. How can I tell if the previous owner just changed those to blue or if this is in fact a DI motor. Thanks for any input. Pictures would be greatly appreciated as the prior owner disassembled the motor.

P.S. It's a red, silver, and black 2001 GTX if this helps.

I hope this helps... sorry but the motor is taken apart and I cant get really good pictures of the fuel rail. Looks to be a throttle body to me though.

Can't see!...

There are not enough pix of the block but it's easy to tell. If you look near the bottom, PTO end of motor and look for a small cylindrical component part connected to the balance shaft, then it's DI. That's your air compressor.

Pull up a GTX DI parts page and look for "crankshaft and pistons"... You'll see what the DI looks like, with the balance shaft and compressor fitted to it.

Well I am pretty sure it's a DI now that I have it out... Here are some pictures. I believe the air compressor is the part sticking up at the rear right of the motor. Please leave me any input you can and let me know what you think. I am posting some pictures of the scored piston, cylinder, and some others. Also I posted another thread on whether or not to rebuild it or possibly get an sbt (seems more expensive). Thanks for all the help!

Do these engines have isoflex greased crank seals like the etec sled engines?.. If so, I'd definetly be looking at those since you already have it apart.
