Getting cavitation on port engine and looked at it and needs new impeller and rings, so going to attempt to replace both.
Any tips or important info I should be aware of?...
Have done a lot of looking at posts regarding it on here and wonder about the ride plates..should they be sealed against the hull??..Do I need to even remove them?

Thanx for the link!!..should help out a bunch. Maybe I will do step by step pics and post also. Very helpful.

ok. Pumps are off and oil was blacker than ace of spades!!!. I ordered new rebuild kits for both. Should I install them???..also does anyone know torque specs when putting new impeller on?

Yes, if you bought the kits... put them in. Pay attention to the direction of the bearings, and the depth.

I'm sure there is a torque spec on the impeller, but just make it tight, with some red thread locker. The engine is spinning it tight anyway. It's almost impossible for it to come loose.
