but then went and looked at pics of my boat and you have it right so far.
Well that was just a total fluke!

Is that dark grey? I am kinda color blind, so it is hard to tell. I thought you had used black.
Yah this is the black, this hardest part right now is getting that old glue off, man those guys at 3M know how to make stuff stick for a long ... long time. I've got the to "O's" off and have and hour and a half invested already!

Any more progress?

Hi foster, yes indeed. I had a hard time finding buff magic up here. Luckily I had a business trip to Mentor OH, and was able to source it. I'm just working on buffing up the rig now. Thanks for the reply in my other post re: prepping for hydroturf. I figured I would ask that question in a seperate post so that other members would easily be able to see it. I'll post up some before and after pics ... btw if you have any of your turf left over and enough to get your sea doo logo done, I'll PM you my address and you can mail up and I'll get it cut out for you. Or if you want black diamond let me know i've got enough left over to cut you out a set.

Sounds good. I bought the precut kit, so I need to order a full sheet. I will send enough to make 2 in case you have a problem. Do you prefer it to be 1 long strip or squares the size of each letter?

Got the back hatch brought back to life and have hydroturf installed on it with my new sea-doo logo cut out.

here is a pic of my hatch half buffed with buff magic ... stuff works great!

And a couple pics of my new seadoo logo ... definately not as nice of cut as the OEM ... but flyin' round at 60mph ... who's going to notice!

Don't forget the buff magic pro-polish. I used only the buff magic buffing compound and a week later it was dull. Apparently you have to use the pro polish to protect the shine. One side note, do a very small section at a time when using the polish. It dries so dang fast that if you wait too long it is usless.

Wow the buff magic did an awesome job. the letters look good. I will be ordering mine soon.

Holy Smokes!!!! That batman hatch looks amazing!!!

Can someone explain to me (I'm a buffing/compounding utter n00b), what exactly are you doing? Are you repainting this at all? Or is this simply shaving it down, and applying a new coat of wax/protectant to it? So you're removing the faded away plastic? The deeper layers are still bright red, and that's what we see in the finished product??

You are using a mild abrasive compound that is buffing it out. Essentially, yes you are sanding it down a tiny bit. But it is a tiny amount that you cant even really measure. Its just buffing the surface. I used 3M marine rubbing compound but others have had great success with the buff magic.
