Fuel guage problems!

It's been my experience, I've only done 4, that it's the fuel float. It's lost it's magnets usually in the bottom of the fuel tank. If you replace the float get the new molded plastic float.

There you go, three different opinions take your pick.

it's easy to check, it's a simple resistance check.

the float is in the fuel baffle but a 2000 model will have the white float where the magnets don't usually fall out, they do sink though. but more often the fuel baffle F1 fuse goes out. I would replace the fuel float, they are about $10 and do the F1 fuse fix but do the easy version where you don't have to patch the hole.

I had same problem last year. Pull fuel sender/baffle and bench test float at full and empty. Most likely its the F1 fuse which was a simple fix even for me, a shadetree/weekend mechanic.
