Attention all Florida Members,

Sunday Feb 16th Matt B and I will be doing a ride on the Suwanee River out of the Old Town, Florida area, approximately 1 hour east of I75 near Gainseville Florida. 5 Ski's committed so far. We'll be doing two runs, probably late morning and early afternoon then returning home.

I don't wanna hear any "waaaah, its too far to drive" both Matt and I are driving well over 4 hours each way to make this ride.... so take your excuses and stick them where the sun don't shine (which right now is anything north of the Florida State line hhahahah)

Join us if you can ! post up on the Southeast page, I started a thread there but I thought i'd post it up once here since we frequent this thread so often.

Anybody willing to make the drive is welcome to bundle up and dunk their good running ski in for the ride/rides. You don't have to be from Fl....heck Spim doesn't even ride Seadoo anymore (at the moment).

hmmm seller has 0 ratings, may not go very high after all. we'll see.

even with 0 ratings, if I wanted it, I wouldn't be hesitant to bid, because no matter what I'm driving to pick up, I wouldn't even put a deposit through ebay, u know, cause the transaction never happened ;);)

I don't think there is any more for me to read about that 97.5 model. I'm ready to answer any concerns you might have. It's kind of like a poor man's RXX in my opinion because many blew up early, leaving a lot of fresh low hour ones out there. The problems they had can be easily remedied.

I actually really like the grey ghost color scheme. I think it is the best looking Gsx made(IMO)

Long live the 2 stroke Seadoo!

my only concerns.... whats it worth as a part out ? lol

sure, if its running and just needs a good scrubbing i'd be all over it but these days it would be too costly to replace the engine unless its just to Frankenstein some new parts in, clean it up and re-sell, even in a perfect world, whats the resale value, maybe $16-1800 on a trailer max ?

I don't want to run a 951 myself as a personal ski, been there done that and I don't have the parts/expertise to keep one in my fleet. Quite honestly, I think both of my current ski's would be considered a significant upgrade over the ghost.. (no offense to 951's, but i'm not qualified to wrench on one and have no spare's, and duly noted: the 98 GSX I rode was fun as hell !)

but besides the MPEM which maybe is a 1 off, but a quick check seems to indicate the 97/98 are the same ($275?) ... and if the cases are intact they are worth $200-$250... trailer $200ish... + misc... puts its real value around $1000 max on trailer? meaning to me its worth no more than $500 and that's only if the cases are undamaged.

this guy has had the same listing since maybe October.

Boat Waverunner Jet Ski Ignition Kill Switch Coil Lanyard - $15 (SW Cape Coral)

he finally dropped the price from $20 firm to $15.. hopefully by March or April he'll be down to $10.. which would be the correct price :)

I'll give him credit for working so hard to sell this thing... its been re-listed religiously every 4-5 days for 4 months.

I should give him some of my crap to sell on consignment, he obviously has time to kill

challenger part out

http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/boa/4306869510.html

reasonable on some parts... i wonder what he wants for the shifter ?

$1200 for everything is pretty good ... (not fantastic, but pretty dam good)

my wife would divorce me if I brought home another challenger project, although it was one of my most profitable flips ever, it took up the entire garage for almost 3 months which meant her car was parked outside... at the time I couldn't park it next door since I had 5 ski's in THAT garage lol

I think I have a shifter laying around if somebody needs one.

The 97.5 GSXL was released early as a production model to get the 951 legal for racing. There were parts of it that caused the engines to fail early that need to be changed. It had piston to cylinder clearances that were too tight. It also had a device on the carbs that leaned the mixture out. This was a bad combination for reliability but it allowed BRP to slip the 947/951 engine into acceptable emissions territory. This made all the following 951's legal to import where they may have not been if they were re-tested after being set up the more reliable way.

The white engine cases, cylinders, and head are different from silver 951's and do not interchange. The white pipe is a valuable part that adds performance to regular 951's. I think there is something special about the pump also but not sure about that one yet.
