The PO swore he just had the bearings checked and repacked and he seemed like a solid guy... the results were after a 100 miles of I75 I was left with a 3000lb boat on a tandem trailer with both starboard bearings shot 900 miles from home.
Nothing quite like hiking around to various auto parts stores looking for bearings, then changing them out in a McDonals Parking lot...
I just started playing around with seadoos last spring, every low budget Seadoo deal I have looked at last summer has "featured" dry rotted tires. I would plan to at least replace the tires and verify the bearings before heading north.
or, my solution to the problem was to simply move to florida!
Now my only problem is trying to beat Matt to the really good deals!

The Ski & Trailer I bought (spim P/U'ed it for me) last Nov. had good tread on the tires but the side walls were cracking a lot. replaced them w/in 2 days. Needed lights, and probably bearings soon, the tire store checked the BB and still full of grease but IDK about the bearing themselves yet. I only towed it from Ft. Meyers area to Bradenton (kept under 65mph for the most part).
I would check everything before towing 1000 miles. And bring lots of tools too, :)
 
Black shoe polish fills in cracks in the sidewalls. :D

AG, stop here on the way down and buy 4 hubs. 2 for a 1" axle and 2 for a 1-1/16" axle. get three new tires and rims and return what you don't need on the way back. They're right off 95 in Delaware. I've bought from them before for my car trailer and had a friend pick up the stuff while at work. Delaware is the tax free state!

I blew a bearing on my first seadoo trailer, oh I mean my old snowmobile trailer, um, seadoo trailer. Heading to the shore I saw my bearing buddy pass me on an on ramp. Drove about 40 miles with the hub tilted. Had to scrounge up a bearing kit, bought a file and dressed the axle all in a parking lot. Continued to the shore came home an bought a real two place doo trailer. Not fun, but what an adventure. I always carry tools and two grease guns, one for the trailer and one for the PTO's on the boat.

Was only kidding, I have seen a lot of shady dealings with cars over the years, this was just one of them. Bought my mom a 95 explorer with a blown trans. Someone tried to make it work by putting ultra fine sawdust in the trans--yeah, that was nasty.

It's definitely been apart before engine is not orig, but the hull looks pretty clean and complete with a trailer for $600

oh man i really wish you hadn't posted that... is it the same one from a month ago ?
I'd love just to empty my hull and put everything in this one, I like the 99 colors so much more than the 96.
 
If that was within 150 miles of me it would be in my driveway or at the warehouse getting ready for a rebuild, we have a fresh 787 to drop in.
 
Yeah I'm not sure their used engine transplant project was ever finished up. My buddy has a black bottom 98 but It's just not as cool as the yellow top.

I stumbled on it last night so I figured I'd post it up so someone could get the hook up. I love the all yellow of the 96's but the black/yellow combo is awesome:thumbsup:

i'm pretty sure the exact same ski, and same price was up about 30 days ago. If it wasn't 2+ hours away, i'd probably grab some cash and go peek at it, but its a tad far for me to head up there, i wan't it, but I don't need it :)
 
Came across this, not a bad deal for us northern guys. He says it will run, but I doubt it. He will go $500 for both of them. Not sure what I would do with them yet. If the hull is rough I might just take the 787 and get it rebuilt for a spare, I have 3 other skis with the 787, one of them is bound to blow this summer. The rest I can use for parts.

If those pics are really from 07, I'd hate to see what they look like now.
 
I asked him about that, he says that the camera has the wrong date. I will go check them out on Monday and see how bad they are, who knows............. just might get lucky.

Is there any differences with a 787 in a GTX and GSX?
