The old battery and carb trick again.

Have you guys actually got any that need just that?

We just got a 96 xp the guy said he just had the motor rebuilt but its siezed now. He said he would hit start and nothing would happen so he gave up on it. Took it home CHEAP, put in a battery, hit start got one short beep one long beep, i replaced the dess post and she turned right over, i took off the head jugs look great with nice cross hatch marks, has great compression.

Story number 2 Had a guy selling a polaris sl650 for $150, we usauly dont buy polaris's but for that price we said why not, it was super clean, We get there the guy said he just got the motor back from a rebuild and installed it. He said he took it out and he thinks he siezed it, We tried turning it over by hand and it was siezed. so we take it home and we pulled the pump, took out the drive shaft and for shiz And giggles tried to turn it over again and she was free and thumped like thumper. The guy didnt align the motor correctly and the drive shaft was binding up. We have had alot of luck with people thinking the worst and it was an easy fix. Then again those ads are the ones we like. Electrical problems is our best friend, lol

Wish I could stumble into those deals, well not now being cash poor. Guys tend to dump sleds cheaper here than skis.

So it's not like they're total roaches then. I just find it hysterical that everyone of them needs either a battery, starter or carb rebuild.

actually my gp 1200 needed exactly that,,, a new battery and a carb rebuild, $200 cash. The carb kits & battery cost more than the ski itself lol

I had a gti that had some rope stuck in the pump, all I did was give it a bath and sell it.

now of course, i've driven over to look at 20 different ski's just this year and drove away empty handed and shaking my head due to piss poor description of the problem, so ya,, we do get more than our fair share of roaches.

Amazing that people just don't know or care to. I know most if not all of you guys thought I was on crack for starting with my clapped out XP. My problem is I can see the potential in a pile of dirt.

kind of makes u think a mechanic with no battery? he would have a jump starter box on hand so i'd love to hear his excuse when u go to buy it nammer
if all checks out great buy

haha, i'm real skeptic, it'd be an INSANE buy if it all checks out, but agreed bout the battery, plus it's at a shop, so i'm thinking IF it really does exist, there is a good chance he doesn't have title, prob customer left it there as payment or shop guy held it until it's paid, and owner ditched it.

pics could be legit though....no registration on right side, but usually people just put it on left, and the trailer has 727 area code which is the st pete area, of course pics can come from anywhere......

Lol, I just saw that one a little while ago and messaged him as well. We'll have to see what he says and compare notes to see what the deal is.

I smell scam..... When they don't list a number and the registrations numbers aren't shown, that typically is the case.

yea, it's not the usual obvious scam though, basically just cause price is too good to be true, honestly, i'm better off not buying it, but if it's legit, it's one of those no brainers

i'll def post up if i get a response, i'm gonna have to say, i think there is 85% he won't respond
