engine wont turn over

Well I've got a good one for you.I have a 96 xp 787.Turns over great with no plugs installed,but not at all with even one in.Starter was rebuilt .All connections are clean.I tried using my truck battery for more cca.Tried jumping the start solenoid with a screwdriver.I'm lost.Need help.

When you take the plugs out see of you can turn it by hand.. I had one of my older skis do that last year.. Died on the water and would not start. Took the plugs out and it turned over.. Turns out the rod bearings came apart, that made it very hard to turn over! I hope your problem is a lot simpler.. If it's been sitting check the pump and the bearing in the rubber hose where the drive shaft goes throught the hull.

Yeah, I can turn it over by hand.Everything seems the way it should be.This is the first Seadoo I've ever been involved with so I'm still learning.What about the rave valves? Could they have anything to do with it.Thanks for any help.

Well as I said, the starter was checked by a rebuild shop.Just needed brush's but the way its acting it sure seems like a starter issue.Because if I can turn the engine over by hand , there should be no reason for it to do what its doing. Has anybody had luck repairing these starters or am I further ahead just to by a new one?

I rebuilt one when I had the same problem, and it just melted the poss wire to brush. I replaced my cables to starter with some 4 gauge car audio wire with copper lugs on ends from ace hardware. put in a used starter from ebay and I was on the lake this weekend!:cheers:

Well the mystery is solved. After reading several other posts about the same problem, I put the battery from my riding mower in and like magic it cranked over like a good thing and fired up. I'll be buying a new battery and start relay. Problem solved. All smiles now!! Thanks for all the advice guys. Now whats the story on these grey fuel lines. From what I'm reading they need to be replaced. Is this on all models or just certain ones?

To turn over by hand, remove the grey plastic shield over the output shaft and you can grab ahold turn the engine.

All of them came with the gray lines, they break down and clog the fuel system and all need to be replaced with just black automotive fuel line. Dont get the fuel injected either costs a lot and isnt needed. Do them all one at a time to keep it all hooked up right. Clean or change the filters in carbs also.

Change the grey lines and clean the water/fuel filter below the handlebars and clean out the control switch also, that goop jams up everything if you let it go past the carb filter then it is soaking time for the carbs, mark the oil tank to be sure it is drinking when you get the fuel system air tight.
