Hey Guys, I need a bit of info on ECU's. I have an 04' 215 longblock (full ECU/Harness etc). I would like to put this longblock in an 06' RXP.

The 04' ECU Part No is. XXX-XXXXX47
The 06' ECU Part No is. XXX-XXXXX46

Only thing(s) I've noticed so far in changes on the longblock is on the 06' the Oil Separator/High Pressure Oil switch has been deleted, (different cylinder head cover). And the Info Centre (guages/cluster) are different. And the Crankshaft Position sensor is external to the MAG cover. I have the parts to do the 06 conversion (cylinder head cover/vent valve/filler neck etc).

Can I use the 04' ECU if I trick the ECU into thinking the front Oil switch is there? Or is there alot more electrical/software changes within the ECU that will make things like the guages not work etc? If I have to I'll drop the quid on the 06' wire harness and ECU but you guys know these parts aren't cheap so if I can make it work I will.

Any help is super appreciated!!

My understanding has ecu's being "year" specific.

Dunno why.

Yah thats all I've heard too, I know you also have to change out the mag cover to an 06' (CPS Sensor is in a different place, so), but other than that and the lack of the front OPS switch I haven't seen anything (well yet) in wiring schematics to show signifigant changes.

Try pming Chester if still no definitive answer.
I think he is a SeaDoo tech by trade and may give you a direct answer.

Thanks OCOD, i think your right, I read alot of his posts definatley knows the 4tecs/brp stuff through and through. Will send pm.

Yup
I think he's a fellow Canadian

I believe so out on the west coast!! I sent him a pm, I have been digging through wire schematics and the only change that would effect the running condition is the location of the CPS sensor (that I have found). On the block I have the CPS sensor is about 50-60 degrees out from where it is on the new one so there has to be a program change in the 06' ECU to accomodate this for timing. Other than that I haven't seen any other signifigant changes. Hopefully he chimes in ... likely be bad news for me though Lolz

Hey Guys ended up selling this RXP project (needed way too much) the guy also took my RXT. Just came home with an 04' GTX .... my wifey just looks at me shakin' her head ... Lolz

Hey, sorry for the late reply. The 04-05 CPS is 129 degrees different from the 06 & up. Also the the locating pin on the crankshaft, for the trigger wheel, is moved 129 degrees to match up. I think the ECU would still work but you must use the mag cover that came with the engine. I'm sorry I didn't answer this before you sold it.

Thanks Chester! That's awesome information! This wasn't the only driver behind me not moving forward with this project so no worries on the late reply! Realistically this ski needed waaay too much! And if I were ever to sell it ... it would be very difficult to service with a frankenstiend motor (ie 06' tub with 04' internals). Thanks agaiN!
