Anyone from Orillia or have you been up this weekend and know what the water temps are starting to feel like? Is there any use to even consider launching the SeaDoo before May two-four timeframe? I'm starting to realize we only have like 2-3 months of enjoyable temps in or even on the water and I'd love to squeeze in more time if possible?

Also, any leads on weather station information that provide online water temps for Orillia/Simcoe area? Several searches came up with nothing..

Hey!

I'm heading up to Huntsville tomorrow to put the docks in at a friends cottage - also must help consume a silver keg of BEvERage.

Not too sure what the water temp is, but the ice JUST left the lake. I'm bringing hipwaiters because the anticipation is it's going to be cold. However, the weather report is saying a daytime high of 27 degrees celcius! (81 F!) :hurray:

If I can, I'll try and take a lake temp and report back on Sunday/Monday.

Cheers!

I picked up my new Challenger from the dealer last Friday and took advantage of the plus 20 weather on Saturday to test out the new Doo on Couchiching. (I was itching to test it out). The ramp in Orillia was busy with lots of boats hitting the water (I think Perch season opened).

The temp gauge showed the water at 48 which is around 8 celsius. I can't wait to get back on the water and it's supposed to be plus 20 this Saturday and Sunday. Season's way too short so might as well get it in early if you can! I attached a pic of the boat at the Orillia launch

The water is...cold!!

Hey guys!

I was up in Huntsville this weekend putting the docks in at the cottage, and the water is...bbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...freezing! Last week it was still covered in ice, but now it has completely melted.

Needless to say the only boat we had out there was the paddle boat - side note - check for hull cracks before departing on the water. Thankfully it was small and only one hull took on water.

Gotta go back this weekend coming up - if I get time I might drag my seadoo with me to see what he does. With my wet suit, hopefully I won't notice the 8 degree celcius water!

Will keep you all posted!

Cheers!

Hey Everyone

Went out on Couchaching today and the water's heating up from 3 weeks ago. The temp gauge on the Challenger said it's 53 which is 11. Was great for boating and fishing but the water is still darn cold!

Hey! thanks for the updates !! I had my brother check the temps yesterday but I haven't had a report back yet.
Do you think I would survive on the ski with a Neoprene jacket this Friday? It's supposed to rain until then, but maybe it will clear up enough for some launch time.
Whereabouts are you on Couchi? We're on the East shore near Ojibway Bay, right by the Casino.

Went out this past Friday and it was warm in the sun and the water wasn't all that bad.. 60F in most parts around shore, 57F on Simcoe.

Enjoy the long weekend!!

Been on Simco ( cedarmont beach) for 20 years just outside Orillia not far from the narrows into Couch, . I won't even put in my dock Marine railroad until end of May. Waters too cold cold for me never mind air temp

Put boat hoist in the lake this week on Couch (earliest we ever put it in)... wore wetsuit boots as water is shallow on our side - after a while the water felt pretty good! On Sunday we saw someone on a Seadoo screaming around in the am and we put our boat in later in the day. Can't wait for the water to be warm!!

I can understand where you're coming from as we often wait until that time... but between the fact many people's cottage season ends LabourDay weekend, rails and docks are out by Cdn ThxGiving.. throw in all the rainy weekends, you get like what?.. 4 nice weekends of the year ???

This province has beautiful lakes and incredible cottage country, too bad we have only 5 mins to enjoy it..

I'm sure you already have a decent wetsuit and get some riding boots and u're all set for the water

You can try www.wunderground.com orwww.weatheroffice.gc.ca/marine for forcasts

This is exactly what I was looking for.. thanks.
Unfortunately, due to Fed. Government / Provincial budget constraints, these marine buoys aren't maintained properly nor serviced... Hence I noticed the Simcoe station doesn't provide any information.. :(

I was at Lake Manitouwaba (Parry Sound) this past weekend opening the cottage (May 9,10th) and the lake was 45F. (about 8C) We dropped the seadoo in anyway. I went around the lakes a few times with work gloves on and my shoes!

I bought the wetboots, gloves, and SeaDoo Neoprene jacket, spent about $225, none of which I needed this past weekend. So far with the frosty weather its shaping up that I may need it this long weekend.
I'm sure I'll use it in the fall and I'm glad I returned my wetsuit for the jacket, I would have been sweating with the suit on

update

After this past weekend's stupid cold temps, Couch dropped from 57 on Friday to 51F. :(
Hoping the past couple of days will begin to make up the loss...:coolgleam:
