Ok, so I just rebuilt my buddies 92 XP. It was handed to me in a box in pieces and now is built, buuuuuuuut, upon our final overview of the motor, we found that the spring on the oil pump where the cable connects is disconnected and needs reset. The two of us tried for about 2 hours to set it and came to the conclusion he motor just needs to be pulled. Problem is we started it and it ran at idle so the part where the driveshaft connects to the motor is jammed on there, and simply turning it by hand or with channel locks is also turning the motor over, thus not loosening the shaft.
Sooooooo, how do I keep the motor from turning over so I can loosen the shaft??? Do I need a special tool or something or whats the secret? The service manual didnt explain this part during engine removal. Thanks in advance!!!
