Does the key connected trigger hour meter?

G'day all
I have just purchased a 2008 GTI 130 and I'm planning to get it out on the water to do some fishing this coming weekend. I was just wondering if I leave the key engaged the whole time I am fishing is it going to be clocking up hours on the hour metre for the whole time I am out or just while the engine is running.

It's different for different years but on your ski the gauge keeps its own hours so it's clocking hours while it's on.

Cheers ski-d00 so just to confirm, you believe that for my ski, while the key is connected I'm clocking up hours regardless of wether the engine is running or not
