DESS does not beep

I just picked up a used 98 Speedster that is near mint condition.
First boat I've ever owned. I've only had it in the water twice and everything seems to work great except I haven't heard the beeping noise I've always heard while riding other Seadoo PWC.
Should I not be hearing the regular beeping noise coming from the DESS system when you first put the key onto the post?? Is it possible that the beeper itself is broke?

I don't know about 98' but in my boat there is a speaker that sounds the "BEEPS" I would assume either your horn or speaker is out and that is why your not hearing that. Or the wiring is not working. Tres has the same boat as you maybe he has some insight into your issue.

Come to think of it...I could not get the horn to work either. Could this be a related issue?? Mechanically, everything else seems to work fine
