Depth finder on 2011 GTI SE 130

I have two 2011 GTI SE 130 sea doo's. Has anyone put a flasher depth finder on their sea doo? According to the Manuel a depth finder could be added, but after talking with the dealer they are not sure it will work. Any ideas?

No it is a Lowrance LST 3800.

I will post some more pictures tonight of the transducer and where I mounted it tonight. Also the wiring.

The transducer is mounted on the right side of the sea doo on the back. You will need to drill a large enough hole for the cable to go through. Run the wires to the front of the sea doo through the engine compartment. On the right side of the sea doo right at the front of where the foot space is, when it curves up at the top of the curve you need to take a 2" hole saw and very slow drill a hole. Make sure the the hole is closer to the inside of the sea doo, rather than the outside (You only have one shot at this, so measure it several times and drill it once) the edge of the hole should be right on the edge where the wall of the foot space comes up. If you don't get it on the inside edge then you will have trouble getting the nut on the back of the flasher. Put some silicone around the hole you just made. Insert the flasher into the new hole you just made. Tighten the nut on the back side of the flasher. Splice all the red wires together and then connect it to a fuse. I used the add a circuit connectors to connect to the fuse box. I used the number 12 fuse (3A gauge OTAS + CAPS) this will turn the flasher off when the lanyard is not on. Next you will need to splice the black wires together and take to the negative side of the battery. When all this is done and you put the lanyard on the post the flasher should come on. Make sure that you put silicone around any holes that you made. I will post pictures of the transducer, inside the engine compartment, inside the front storage compartment.

Very nice install. :thumbsup: Just a quick question did you look at the sea doo one. no drilling holes through hull. Pretty much plug and play. Ive had luck with them on mine.

Thanks. No I did not look in to the sea doo one. The dealership could not give me any information on any depth finder for the sea doo. I have another sea doo the same year model that I am going to install another one on.

The only thing that the dealer could tell me is that they were $400 each, and could not verify if they would work. How much did you have to pay for yours?

if you look near the engine on the hull there should be a spot with 2 thread holes. thats where it mounts the rest is running wires to the fuse block up front. flip the block over and look for the letter and number spots for the wires and plug them in.

Blur, how well does the OEM depth gauge work? At about what speeds does it give a reading? My jetboat's depth gauge (with a transom mounted transducer) works well up till about 35-40mph then it starts to lose reading (display goes blank as it looses the ability to read the bottom depth). But that's fine IMOH!

I'd love LOVE to have an OEM depth gauge on my RXT, I HATE idling up to a beach area not knowing how deep the water is under my keel.... in my jetboat at least I know when I'm in waist deep water so I can shut off the engine, on my RXT I have no idea it may be 10 feet deep it may be only 1 or 2 feet deep it's a danged guessing game and I hate guessing! Arghhhh!

I don't know about the sea doo one, but the Lowrance that I installed with a transom mount works great at any speed. I tested it at 5 miles or hour and at top speed of 55 miles per hour. It gave a reading at all times. It does make a difference of where the sensor is mounted.

I have added Hawkeye depth finders to: 2002 GTX, 2007 FX HO160. THey work perfectly. The depth finder costs $99.99 plus the a housing by Hawkeye and can be installed in 1 hour.

Here is an update on installing the depth finder on the other sea doo.

In the directions I put to connect all the black wire to ground. There is a correction to this. Read directions on the black wires of which ones goes to ground. If you tie all of the black wires together, then the alarm will go off all the time. You can tie all if the red wires together and take it to the fuse block.
