Crankshaft oil, NEED HELP!

Ok, my first thread got buried after not being answered yes or no. Does the bottom end (crankshaft housing area) need oil or is it a dry system? I'm putting (hopefully) the cylinders on today after having them re-sleeved and need to know if I need oil in the bottom or not before completing this. I just don't want my $450 to go up in smoke from not being thorough. I will be running pre-mix gas because I don't trust the oil injection but I'll be leaving the injection system untouched. I figure worst case scenario it works and she smokes a little bit. But do I need to put oil of any kind in the lower end, or is it a dry system? Thank you!

Got 1 cylinder on, just waiting for a definitive answer yes or no to the question do I fill the crankcase with oil? I've tried looking through the manual I bought online last year but it's 300+ pages and on a laptop, it's challenging to read.

the rv assy will fill itself, once you hook the oil lines to the fittings, make suretheres oil inthe bottle though. You can dump the oil pump, if going premix, with premix and pump working, too much oil will be present and will foul plugs. You can "coat" the crank assy with 2-stroke oil, then pour it out, or leave in there, and hit start button, to shoot it out, that''ll help lubethe pistons,rings and walls, too.

i will be installing a new top end soon too

so just to clarify...

you're suggesting dumping some oil below the pistons into the crankshaft, putting it back together, and then starting it as usual to shoot out the oil and burn it up?

or do you mean start up the engine while the head is still off so the extra oil can literally shoot out?
 
Thank you for the response! I'm not sure if the oil pump works or not so for the time being I'll be running premix till I know for sure. Fouled plugs don't bother me, I have to buy new ones anyways before I can try to fire it up today anyways. I'll just carry a couple sets with me and clean them when I get home. But the oil lines from the oil tank to engine were never taken off by me, so I have to assume they're fine. Weird thing is that it doesn't look like there was ever oil below the pistons, and that's what concerns me. I know they lubricate from the top with the gas mix, but nothing from the bottom end would make me believe I might know why the engine has been worked on at least once before.
 
No need to put oil in. The crankshaft gets lubrication from the oil/gas/air mixture.

Chester is a Pro PWC wrench, and he is 100% right.

BUT... I don't like anything being started dry. When I put a 2-stroke back together, I make sure there is oil on the bearings. I just squirt a little into each bearing before assembly. Then when it starts... that oil just purges though.


But the direct answer to the original question is... NO... the bottom end of your engine is dry, and is lubed via the fuel/oil mix.

you have an 800 engine, and along with your rotary valve gears... you have a counter balance that you should check the oil level on while it's apart. It's fill level is 1 oz of 2-stroke oil.
