Hi last year I had my 787 rebuilt and ran great but then it started smoking at start up and hydrolocks after sitting so I've read and have been told by a couple different people that know more then I do about skis that its the crank seal and the place that rebuilt it doesn't do engines anymore so how hard is it I know the motors gotta come back out which isn't a big deal ive done it before somone I know said its as easy as just turning the engine over and taking the botton of the case apart and its right there is it that easy the motor runs great besides that

unfortunely no....if it was the outer seals it would be that easy, but its your inner seals that are bad. The crank has to be completely disassembled to replace them.

Yea figured id be beat I might just go with a sbt engine all tho I hear mixed feelings about them a couple people I ride with have sbt motors and run great

Did East Coast Cycles rebuild your engine?
If so, you should still have a warranty even though they do not rebuild engines anymore.

Its hard to say they are at fault unless they are reman-ing motors like SBT.

Most rebuilders just replace the bearings that are really bad and dont split your crank all apart. AKA the seals are prob. original.

Oil inside the engine doesn't have to be the fault of crank seals. It might be the rotary shaft seal or possibly the injection pump.

Well when they did the motor they said all seals and bearing so I hope they did and I've read post about rotary valve seals but I never hear if it hydrolocking but I know very little about seadoo engines if it wasn't to crazy I would do it myself I work on cars all day so I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to fixing stuff. I just like shuff done the rite way and I just don't know the best place to get a motor from now maybe I shoild just part it out and start over

ECCS did a motor for me a couple years ago...it came with a 1 year no fault warranty. A person could purchase an additional year of warranty.

JMO
If the motor is not right, i.e., faulty crank seal or rotary valve seal, then I would pursue it.
I am pretty sure that Joe was the name of the guy that I dealt with. I also think that they are still doing business but away from ECCS.

The guys name is tom he did a motor for a friend of mine and if was great still runss great I just talked to somone there and they told me to call and talk to him tomarrow hell come in

not say'n its not possible, but to have BOTH inner eals go bad, at same time? If both your cylinders are puking oil, then i'd say yuor rv seal is bad.

Sorry I should've specified that its only the mag cylinder that fills with oil. Not both. The other one is perfectly fine
