Has anyone else experienced their factory cover (supposedly made for the exact pwc) rubbing against (and scuffing!) the finish of their ski? I had this occur when I drove mine home after I bought it. I was more than a bit peeved, and at this point, I am reluctant to put the cover on when I am driving it again. Anyone had anything like this occur? I also wonder if it has anything to do with the vents up front letting in dirt. Seems like if this is a crappy design, Sea Doo should replace it. I mean, a ski cover that actually damages the finish if you drive with it on?...Am I off base here?

best thing you could do is sell it or throw it in the garbage and buy a poppy cover. They are much better than the oem crap. They have a system called vacu hold. As you tow it, it is sucked down flat to the ski and wont flap in the wind. Direct from their website:

What does all this mean? This cover is high quality and made from Sur Last Solution Dyed polyester which is made here in the USA by Glen Raven Mills, the manufacturer of Sunbrella. It is non-abrasive, water and UV resistant fabric. When you team it up with the vacu-hold system, a rubbery/plastic vent that as the air flows over it, pulls the air out of the cover and sucks it tight to the boat. This keeps it from flapping in the wind and rubbing your boat and the grips off.

The cover you see in my profile picture is a brand new poppy cover. Bought it last month. It also has 2 clips(larger models have 4 clips), 1 on each side that snaps onto the underside of the rub rail. Very tight fitting cover. My avatar pic is w/o the cover.

Tell poppy rep ( Tammi I think) you are a member of seadoo forum.

Its Terri, and yes she takes good care of us. She's not just a rep, shes the owner.

I had a previous custom made cover for my seadoo sportster and all the places that came in contact with the cover as in places that would rub the place that made the cover stitched in pieces of some sort of soft carpet looking material. It was actually pretty neat. Protectected the boat from scratches and also the cover from ripping. I plan on doing this to my oem covers now. It was just a soft material that was easy on the seadoo on areas like the handle bars, rear grab bar and rub rail if needed

When I bought mine last year the dealer suggested I NOT use the covers on long halls as they can mar the ski,,,
I talked them out of their newer style vacu-cover design (OEM) and they are perfect. Fit super tight and do not move around.

hmm, these are Sea Doo vacu covers? I will have to look into it.

im telling you, forget anything sea doo makes. Go over to poppycompany.com and you wont be disappointed. I dont think there has ever been a single complaint about them on here.

I didn't mean to imply that the OEW vacu-covers are any better or any worse than the poppy covers mentions above. I just wanted you to know that their newer style of covers do have the vacuum tubes and slit cut into them and in my case they function perfectly..
