Well, I just removed the sensor to test it in a pot of water and heated till boiling. Once the water was at a rolling boil I dipped the sensor into the pot with my multi meter attached and set to check for resistance/ beep when continuity was made.
After being in the hot water for a few seconds the DMM would stop reading open loop (infinite resistance) and start reading ~300 ohm, after a few more seconds of letting the resistance drop the DMM measured less than 10 ohms and the continuity alert went off.
I performed this test several times with the same result.
Thats quite odd...but thats about the only thing that should make the beeper beep. The only thing I can think of is the gauge is giving ground to the tan wire which is also connected to that wire on the mpem. Ill look again but im pretty sure those are the only two things it could be.
