Cold starts - do you use throttle or choke?

Hey, just looking for what everyone does when starting their ski cold.

Personally I find throttle works better then choke. I have the fuel accelerator pump on my carbs. A few squeezes of the throttle and some throttle gets it going best. Kinda like a primer.

Anyone? interested to hear.

Cheers!

I squeeze the throttle five times and then hold the choke out. Then I press the start button several times until I hear the ski give some indication of firing. Then I release the choke and use the throttle gently during starting. This is basically the same method I use on almost every 2-cycle engine.

I use a combo of both.

The only ski I have with a pump on it, is my Genesis. BUT... it drains down when it sits. So... I crank, with the choke for about 5~8 seconds... then pump 3 or 4 times... then, when I hit it next time... it will start.

I pull the choke all the way and it usually fires right away, then slowly let it in as it starts to die.

Then next time you hit it doc, do you use choke?

Trying to figure out the fastest way to get it started, with the least amount of starter usage. Why... I don't know just figure it is better for the engine and starter lol.

i usually give it 3 pumps of the throttle, and crank with throttle closed, choke pulled, it usually starts after about 5 seconds and doesn't need the choke to stay running. but we've got pretty warm water down here in texas, so that might affect how long you have to choke it for once it starts.
