Hey Guys,
Upon riding my ski and launching in the water I checked the oil level...Just below the top dip mark on oil dipstick. I then take for a ride, come home, flush and clean and put to bed etc. Check oil level a couple of days later and its exactly halfway between the two dip marks. Why would the oil have dropped this much? Its a brand new ski, no coloured smoke coming out the back and engine running fine etc. No leaks at all from engine or oil pooling in hull etc. I'm starting to think is oil kept somewhere else in the engine, like does it pool away or thrown away from the oil tank where the dipstick is measuring? I've been doing a bit of reading and have found out about a PTO housing can hold oil? Also for accurate readings run engine to normal temp and then rev above 4000rpm, and cut engine to remove any oil from the PTO housing and put it back into the oil tank. Is this the case? I'm a very pedantic rider and I regularly check my oil levels. I can remember prior to my first service it did the same thing, with lowering oil level amount. Has anyone else had this issue or knows what causes it?
