can someone please tell me what engine is in my seadoo

i believe my unit is a 1992 model but im not sure, is there a way to tell WITHOUT doing a "boat fax"?
anyways, i know its a gtx, how can i figure out what engine i have?

I need this info because i need a complete new motor in my seadoo, i neeed everything, motor, flywheel, starter, magnito, everything...
I dont know much about jet ski's at all, so please ANY info will help.
Also, if you have the stuff that will fit my unit, please let me know. I am on a very tight budget for this project, and the ONLY reason i am repairing it is because the seadoo was a project belonging to my best friend Colby Finch who was just recently killed in a horse buggy accident in Oklahoma. Colby and I were working on this unit before he was killed. Please Please help me any way you can.

Sorry for your loss of a friend. I just looked it up, you have a 587 engine. Can you save the block and just rebuild the rest of it?

This is the place to get help. Lots of people can walk you through a complete rebuild or send away with exchange for a new motor.

i believe the block is saveable, but i just do not have time or know how to rebuild the engine... Ive helpped rebuild the motor in my truck, but i dont trust my own skills to build one on my own. Do you know anyone who has this motor or know where i can find a GOOD used one CHEAP?

The last two digits of the VIN located on a plate at the rear of the hull will tell you what model year the boat is. In your case, if the boat is a 1992 like you think, the last two digits will be 92.
