not knobs, those are rave valves, search forum and there is a detailed, picture filled procedure for cleaning them also

if you are referring to the red "knobs", they adjust the tension on the spring inside the Rave housing. The spring dictates when the RAVE valve opens. Stock setting is flush with the top of the black cover. The RAVEs are what gives you that boost of power at about 5000 RPM.

thank you for the quick replies guys. so do i have to adjust them? I read that i have to clean them. I am going to take it apart and clean it. when i put them back do i adjust the red knob, the spring? or i dont have too

thats a 951, so the adjustment should be all the way down, stock. its the 787 that the setting is flush. but its really a matter of personal preferance. when the adjusters are all the way down, the raves open later, providing greater lower end torque. when adjusted flush, the valves open sooner reducing lower end torque, but boosting midrange-upper end torque. it really doesn't matter where they are set, as long as both are set to the same place.

personally on my 787 xp, i have mine set all the way down.

I agree totally. On my 787's i like the way the boat performs with them screwed all the way down.

Thank you. i already check it out. I am going to clean it tomorrow. Hopefully i will be ready for summer fun...

The only time I've had to adjust was for skier's. That jump at 5k made it impossible to hold a steady speed for skiing.
