Hey Guys

I'm having problems with my 95 SP so I'm selling it and looking for something else.

I ran into a 95 GTX which is very clean and the owner claims that it only has about 70 hours on it. He's asking for $2400 with the trailer.

Is this a good buy?

Any feedback on the 95 GTX? I heard it was the best for that year. I won't be testing it on water so what should I look for before buying?

Thanks

Simon

That 95 seadoo is a dinosaur. I wouldn't buy unless you get to test drive. Once you buy it, it becomes an expensive lawn ornament if the engine is bad. There are a lot of things to check on a seadoo that age...compression Steering cables, wear ring, hull cracks, electrical in tact, battery is in fairly new shape...ect.
Cheap price doesn't mean a good deal...just it needs lots of money to make it run properly. Look for something a bit newer. If you do buy it, we can help if you need advise to get it running.

I just bought a '95 GTX a few weekends ago. I paid $1600 for it and a trailer. It only has around 80 hours, and is in almost perfect condition. No fading on the body, and only a few scratches here and there. I got to test ride it, and I have had it out once since buying it and it's in perfect condition. Other than a little issue with idling, it runs great and doesn't hesitate to get up and move. I had to replace the starter on it which cost about $40 bucks.

I'm pretty new to the game, $2400 seems pretty high to me. $1600 may been a tad bit high, but for the condition I didn't want to pass it up (also jets skis are sort of hard to come by in my area). If it's in great condition, and you can test ride I would try talking the current owner down.

I have a 1995 GTX and all in all it's a great ski. I'd agree with the $1500 price tag for a good condition one. You asked how the skis were, so here goes...

Not the fastest. Will do around 40-45 mph. Which can be a little slow on a lake but on open rough water it shines. Very stable and comfortable ski especially with the touring seat if you can find one. You can throw it around and not have to worry about being thrown ( at least I never have been). The only time you'll tip it is if you make a sudden extremely tight turn with a passenger on the back. But that's just down to weight shifting.

It will also run all day long on a tank of gas. Not a bad looking ski either - but that's down to preference.

forgot to say check the compression and if at all possible get it in the water - that's where you see the problems if any. Gauges tend to go bad . Buying a ski dry is fine if it's a fixer upper but you really need to get wet to see how it really is. You wouldn't buy a car after just hearing it start up, right ?

I totaly agree, definantly not going to win any races. I'm new to jet ski's and it's plenty fast for me though. Not the greatest looking (green, purple, teal, and pink not the best color combo), but isn't bad. I love being able to run for long times without worrying about the gas. Handles great all around, and the seat is extremely comfortable.
