maybe this is a better spot  ?

Hi everybody,

Just got a new (to me) 04 sportster 4-tech. Have never owned a boat of any type, minimal experience with rentals and friends boats. Think I'm gonna have fun with this little beast. Gonna take it slow, thoroughly read the owners manual, probably take a boaters safety course.

Insurance Questions: Is there a favorite carrier, whats the going rate? I got a quote from Gieko ~ $300/yr, $1000 deductable, and it only covers you up to $10,000. Here in California, it's not even a legal requirement to carry insurance - doesn't feel right . . .

Anyway, thanks for any input, John B

J,

Congrats on the boat! Your smart thinking about insurance. I have Geico on my motorcycle and they have treated me well in the past when I had a claim so I cannot say anything negative about them. I currently use Progressive for the boat. Here in Florida they are quite competitive and offer good rates.

Accidents happen and you can never anticipate every scenario. Sometimes people get hurt too. Good coverage is key. I always say if you cannot afford a good insurance policy you cannot afford the boat.
