Hey guys,

i have an 01 seadoo xp and everytime i hold the throttle down it blows a fuse either the 15amp one at the front or the 15am amp in the fuse box.

does anyone have any ideas to wat this may be?

thanking in advance :)

Hey Doc, fire the ski up, then with a voltmeter, take reading at battery. should not be into the 15v range.

The 15amp, is the charging circuit fuse, being a 951, do the battery test, but if memory serves me right, you might be needing to crack open the mag cover, and inspect for shavings on/around your stator assy, as well as inspecting the bendix assy...

ah okay.. i'll test that now.. with the mag cover.. any instructions on how to get to it..? diagram perhaps..?! thanks heaps man

if anything like the 787 motor, undo the front mount bolt, prop it up on piece of wood, and undo the bolts, 10mm. May need to move a few items to help situation...oil res.,..etc.

I have a multi-meter though i don't know how to use it .. ? sorry .. ur dealing with a amature here.. i want to check the wiring of it though i don't know how to check it.. can some one please explain if its not too much trouble..

Doc, head down to local auto parts store, either buy one or see if you can rent it(multi-meter). To use it, flip it on, then have wife, son, daughter, annoying neighbor..anyone, help you.

Locate the relay,..where the 2 big red cables enter a black box, and attach to inside, that your relay. The cable from battery to relay, should read 12-ish, the other post wont have a reading until someone hits the "start/stop" button.

On the multi-meter, you have a blck and red wire leads. Connect/touch the red lead to the post, and the black to a good ground...battery, expose metal,.ettc. All there is bud.

Hey guys.. the mag cover on the xp.. has anyone got a diagram as to exactly where it located..? i want to have a crack at it at home.

Hey guys ..

the problem of the blowing fuse still remains .. and im so confused as to what to do. The official problem as i just tested is that..

When i apply full throttle to the ski it cuts out - blowing the 15amp main fuse (at the front). Shall i attach some photos? Does anyone have a solution for me. Please comment in detail as ur dealing with a amature to skis (not bad in cars tho).

thanking in advance :)

Hey ya,

Im waiting for my mutil meter to arrive, in the mean time i called a seadoo mechanic and from what i described he thinks it could be my charge windings...? what the hell are they? he thinks the part alone costs 750 bucks (AU)! plus labour.. what do u guys think of that?

if you have the manual, then you would be able to get the correct readings of what the "stator"..aka..charge windings, should be. You could pull the mag cover off and have a look, possible you'd find the problem...etal shavings grounding out the stator, and while youre in there, inspect the bendix assy..(starter gear)
