I'm glad this thread came up. I was cruising the web today and I was wondering if anyone has used one of the lithium motorcycle batteries. I looks like a great idea, the downside, they ain't cheap.

thanks spim, i think i will get that one

88-35 online coupon code = about 50

my apologies,, i just wandered out to check my ski and mine is the EXT16L but mine has 325 CCA says right on the top. i know i've ran 16L's at batteries plus, but mine isn't the 275 CCA listed here maybe they downgraded the battery. it says extreme on it. the one in their pic doesn't say extreme, and its confusing, their main description says 275 cca but the spec's say 325. (no battery expert here)

i think with the last coupon code they had, order online, and pickup at store, and it was around $75. if i ordered one and it was the 275 model i might be backing out, not sure how much of an impact it has but this particular one, the 275 did not have good reviews.

in general if its a ski you plan to own for more than a year, i might consider an upgrade, (x2 at batteries plus or maybe deka) but both are over $100. but if the future is unknown, then this might be fine, but you can have them test it b4 you walk out the door, and if you haven't done so, its time to shop for battery chargers (good basic model is the battery tender jr) but i know of a few guys that ride regular and they never charge, but the ski gets weekly use at a minimum.

does that mean it's unuseable? or does it needs to be vented?

not unusable, but its significantly more likely to let you down 10 miles from the ramp, sealed AGM is better than lead acid, and I believe 16L is the correct application, if it isn't i've been buying the wrong batteries :)

in summary, an average AGM is > lead acid, buy an average AGM at a minimum.

if you plan on keeping the ski, then upgrade from average agm to a really good agm, with a 2 yr replacement, its worth the extra $30-40, even if you avoid one breakdown away from the ramp its worth it.
