bearing at bottom of motor jet ski seadoo gsx 2009

Hi, so i have this gsx 1999 with 124 hours, that it is not working right, it goes really slow like 10mi/hr, when in the water it seems motor has no power, seems like is chocking and struggling to get speed, out of the water sounds good an seems to have a lot of power. it worked fine when put it in water for the first time this year, drove it for 10 min and stop when i wanted to use it again like 5 min later problem begun.
Took it to the marina in my town and they say there is a bearing at bottom of motor that it is almost gone, they say the only option is to replace the engine but because the price of doing that is more than the price of the jet ski it it better to get rid of it.
What do you think.

it sounds like your local marina doesn't know what they are talking about.

did you change your spark plugs first? what is your compression?

Hummm well, don't know that, they just said over the phone that they did the diagnostic with a cable and computer and that a bearing located at the bottom of the motor is almost gone, and that is the problem, they did a summer service weeks ago, I assumed they checked everything, it seems that I will need a second opinion before following their recommendation of taking it to a scrapyard, don't know much about motors but seems kind of radical.
Don't know if what they are saying is something that could happen or just making that up, don't know if that could cause that slow ride in water but when outside of the water it seems it wants to take off to the moon, some how I don't trust that marina. They replaced the wear ring when they did the summer service. Never said anything else was wrong.

Something does not sound right to me based on the tools they used to diagnose the issue and what they determined what the issue is.

You do need to get a second opinion in my opinion. .

9-1/2 hr drive.......just think in a 24 hr span it could probably be fixed, by an expert too!

As weird a it would be, a two-day trip, hotel room and a dinner would be a bargain compared to your initial advice from the dealer.

I'll bet we can find somebody closer to you than that to help you out but you should try yourself. I'm about half that distance away just over the Indiana border in Ohio.

We should be able to walk you through it here if you basic mechanical skills. Pick it up, then check the basics, fuel on, new spark plugs and check the compression.

I would agree with this as well. The plus to this is, the knowledge you will gain will be huge,,,,
