Battery storage & transport

I want to keep a spare battery with me since I have two skis. What ideas do you have for safe and secure storage? I don't want leave it loose in the trunk or otherwise in its cardboard box. Is there an option that could secure it on my trailer or secure it in the cargo of my SUV?

Storing a spare battery runs the same problem of any battery, which is keeping it charged.

I bought a battery box for my truck that I have plugged it to truck on a switch circuit. That way it is charged anytime the truck is on.

It is a sealed battery so I don't worry about the need to vent it.
