Battery Charge

My 08 Speedster has a dead battery. Did I read in here somewhere that you should disconnect the battery to charge it? If so, just curious as to why.

If you charge the battery connected to the charger it cold surge the power going to the other electrical and cause more problems in the other components. Some chargers charge at a higher rate then the components need, causing a surge.

"I'm not a smart man" as Gump says but you seem to be suggesting that I disconnect the battery

Yes. You should never jump your seadoo battery either from a running source.

After spending 2 Gs replacing a faulty MPEM this season, I don't think I would ever work on the electrical system without being very careful.

I disconnected it and thank you. I knew I saw that somewhere just didn't see it in the manual. My diagnostics showed the battery is either toast or needs to be reconditioned. I'm reconditioning it now but figure on needing a new battery. The prior owner was not aware of the large battery disconnect switch.

I guess a battery is needed to winterize it or otherwise I may would wait. Oh well.
