Auto-bilge Pump Question

Hi folks, a month ago I took my 08 180 in for a final warranty check. The biggest problem I had was that the bilge pump wasn't kicking in automatically. The pump worked fine when I flicked the switch manually though.

The tech's answer was to replace the pump. I questioned the logic behind that because it worked fine when I used the manual switch but they're the experts right?

Well low and behold, the auto pump doesn't work again (yes, still works manually). Does what they originally did make any sense? Is there a separate fuse for the manual switch vs the auto-pump? Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

The manual switch works when the power is turned on the power(main) switch. The auto-matic switch comes with the power switch is on or off, so the boat won't sink if un attended. Try to follow the wiring from the bilge pump to the battery. I think there is a in line fuse. I can't open the manual from this computer to give you location or wire direction...but it makes sense there would be a in line fuse also.

According to the circuit diagram on mine (not the same model but I suspect it is similar), there is a 7.5Amp fuse on the bilge pump wire that bypasses the main electrical cutoff (i.e. goes directly to the battery). Follow that wire and hopefully you should see the problem.

i had this problem with the speedster and i found the fuse near the battery 3 amp replaced now all is fine

Did you check the float on the pump? I had the same issue when i bought my boat and it was crudded up and prevented the float from kicking in. I cleaned it and it now runs fine.
