Another "Deal"

Hi,

I found this on Craigs list, anybody have an idea how much this would cost to get back in running condition, or would it be better to part out? Maybe a crate motor?

I have not seen the SeaDoo. This might be a scam but if it is real could be a really good deal.

The add did not include pictures.

2003 seadoo GTX 4-TEC Series with trailer. This was a crazy deal to start with. Bought it new at a boat show in louisville from an Indiana dealer. The kids used it for about a month and had a problem with the motor. I took it back to Indiana to the dealer and left it with them. I waited and waited and finally went back after it and they had the motor in pieces in a box and were in the process of going bankrupt. I contacted Seadoo and they wouldnt do anything about it said i had to go thru the dealer. to make a long story short i ended up with a brand new seadoo with the motor in pieces in a box. I dont know if it needs a new motor or the one i have put back together or what. Anyway it was brand new used about a month. Has the new trailer with it.when i bought this it was the biggest and best seadoo made. Thanks for looking.
 
I would think this one has a lot more credibility. The person is at least local. The other time scammers rarely post where it actually is or details on location. This one actually knows that Indiana is across from Louisville. I would at least look into it. Sounds like it may have the chance to be a good deal. At least email the guy. What do ya have to lose? You can at least get more info. I dont see a price anywhere, any idea how much?

The price it what makes me think it could be a scam.

Yeah that price would make me leery too. But i would at least check into it and see. If it is a scam its usually obvious after 1 email. It may just be someone who doesnt have a clue and just wants to be rid of it all.
 
Honestly.... a 2003 ski with a bad engine... that's about right.

If the engine is bad... and it ate a valve... you are looking at +$2k for an engine... and you will have to put that engine back together for someone like SBT to take it as a "Core."

If the hull is in very good shape, and has a nice trailer... I would give they guy $1000, and evaluate later. If nothing else... you can part it out, and make a few bux.
 
I would say the price is "right on" as well. With a torn apart and potentially bad engine, you should expect a price like that.

The story is a little bizarre, though. If I read that correctly, he bought it new in 2003, rode it for a month, and then he left it sit since then?

If the guy is loaded (rich) and has tons of cash to throw away, I can see it. If he spent a big part of his savings or has been making payments on it...I don't see it being a legit story. (Would you let your brand new Sea Doo sit for 7+ years for that reason?)

Follow up on it, you may get a great deal.
 
Need a little help here.....

This is the only picture I have & the guy says they are '95 3-seaters. KBB says the only 3 seater in '95 is the GTX.

Are these GTX's?

To get more help it would work much better to start your own thread in the correct section.
 
Also, I have read there was some type of optional "touring" seat offered in 95. I believe it fit a few models and added a third passenger.
 
Goto the main page. Go down to the correct section you want, like PWC, General Discussion. Then click it. When it opens, you will see the list of all the threads . At the top of the list on the left it says "POST NEW THREAD" in a little light blue box. Click that and you are set.
 
2003 gtx

I got this EMail this morning, if it's not sold, sounds like a good deal for someone. My wife says that I'm not interested.

there is supposed to be a guy coming to get it. if he dont call this morning i will take some pics. it is complete except for the motor. it has been stored inside. it was bought in new 2004. it was a leftover 2003 model. it cost 11k when purchased. it is red and white or burgundy white something like that. it has a new trailer that it came on. it has a cover as well and has been covered all along. thanks for looking.

2003 GTX, Back on Craigs List

Hi,

I thought someone out there might be interested. The Doo is back on Craigs List, with pictures. This could be a great deal, 1200.00 for the ski, another 2,000.00 for a motor, another 500.00 (+-) for additional parts, battery, and you have a practically new ski.

My wife tells me that I'm not interested, I thought someone else might be.
