Hey all!

I'm looking to pick-up a Challenger , the rest of the summer is pretty much booked so no need to buy right now. I'm curious what everyone's opinion is as to when is the best time to buy? I figure after labor day, people are going to realize they barely touched their boats and off load them to craigslist, boattrader.com and the such. Is this accurate?

second question,

It's kinda hard to test on water come winter time. What should I look for? If you do a test wouldn't you have to re-winterize the engine?

I guess in the end I'm looking for a FAQ for buying a boat off-season :-)

Thanks!

Winter is the best time to con someone out of a boat. even in late summer people will still take them out thus they have more value.

Also, after the new model year boats are announced the earlier model years seem to lose some value. Was noticable this year when they announced the new 255hp option motor placement.

Live,

You live in the midwest. I say between November and January is the best time. Worked for me last winter and I know this winter is going to be a bloodbath for the boating industry. Liquidation pricing.

I figured the Winter would be a good time. But that goes back to my other question, How do I go about inspecting / testing a boat in the middle of winter.
