New to the forum. I have a 95 xp x-4 720. I recently just saved it from 7 years of garage keep. Replaced battery, starter, and selinoid. Fired right up. Thank god someone filled cylinders with oil. After about 15 minutes of killing bugs it was purring like a kitten. Question is there anything I should be cautious of after this thing sitting so long?

You put them in these

Your trim controls go in this

And your start stop button here and this doubles as your finger throttle.

These are for sale. $80 for the set shipped.

not too much to worry about with it sitting except zerk fittings, maybe oil change in the cone ?
replace fuel filter, oil filter, grey fuel lines, oil injection lines. others might chime in with something obvious i'm overlooking.

re: aftermarket bars,,, you have two options,,,, use stock stem and put bars on (along with a UMI type stop start, above, and maybe a finger throttle, which IMO is preferred over thumb) ... which IMO looks great. some pic's of two different x4's with stock stems and UMI accessories below...

this was my old x4 with $10 bars, and $80ish worth of accessories.

this was a friends, before he added the extra tto accessories....

same ski, with tto accessories added.

or go UMI, $400ish... which looks even better, and handles better (less play in the steering), but I never considered UMI because a) i'm cheap, b) I'm a recreational rider, I didn't like the stiffer steering that came with UMI, and i've ridden a couple with it installed, I prefer a little bit of play in the bars, I don't want the PWC to be that sensitive at 40mph...

You guys say Grey fuel lines. Meaning lines will actually turn grey? If there still clear I'm good?

If your fuel lines are clear, someone changed them. They would have been grey originally. Most people use 25 ft of automotive fuel line from their local auto store. I have used the clear stuff with no problems but many warn of them hardening and cracking.

$10 bars? Really? Lol. So with aftermarket bars I can get any 7/8 pro taper? Or are they vehicle specific?

control guts just swap over, your would replace the control covers.
you can use $10 or $100 bars, just depends on what you can find. the two in my pic's were $10, the black set was $15 because it included $5 worth of black spray paint.

Spimothy Leary I was not selling the bars for $100 it would be the umi bars with the umi vts housing and the umi finger throttle/start stop housing.

All for $100 No grips though. He is on his own for that.

actually, $100 for the set is a fair price IMO.

On a related topic, has anybody had lucking finding those crossbar pads ? I needed one some time back to replace one that was dam ugly, and had quite a time trying to find the right size pad. I ended up calling a buddy of mine that was big into BMX for a few years with his kids and he had a couple that were the right size in his garage, gave them to me. But most searches on the web came up blank for me. If somebody located a source this might be a good place to post it for future reference.
