its parts number 278001016.. on ebay its between 20-60 bucks for different manufactures.. i would go OEM seadoo stuff..

looking at the manual i found it looks like this sensor is buried in the bottom of the engine?

Another question would be is it possible I have a twig or something lodged it the cooling lines for the exhaust since the exhaust uses the river water to be cooled

It's a possibility.. However, I think you would be having a over heating problem rather then a faulty sensor issue...

As far as location I am not 100% positive

Coolant Temp Sensors fail pretty often. 90 percent of the time that is all that is wrong. Because of that, it is the most common suggestion to do first.

guys im not sure what to think of this. the problem i had yesterday bothered me all night so since im off on mondays i went outside first thing this morning and checked my engine coolant which was at the minimum line so i filled it to max, stuck the hose on and started it up then turned the water on. i let it run idle at 1800 rpm for about 5 minutes and then made several "dyno" type runs with it. i did this a few times all while checking my exhaust pipe with the laser temp gun. the hottest part of the pipe never went over 112 degrees. no check engine light ever came on or codes. in all i ran the ski for a total of 25 minutes on the hose. any ideas?

See there are two issues with this is..

The first being that the ski is not under a heavy load...(in the water)

The second and most important is that a ski is not supposed to run on a hose for more then 3-4 minutes.. Especially if your going to nail the throttle.. Even though the ski is on the water, the carbon seal needs to be IN the water to remain cool.. If the carbon seal became too hot it could be ruined and water could potentially rush in and sink your ski..

I would put the ski in the water with the seat off and take it for a quick run to see if the inside of your hull has water inside.. Also to see of the code resurfaces.. Maybe it was a fluke from not being ran in a while..

ok so can anybody tell me what the proper exhaust temp should be so when i test this out i can check the exhaust and see if its actually running hot or if its a faulty sensor?

Ok guys so I tested again today. Left the small back seat off an everything ran well, came back to the shore put the seat back on and went back out and almost immediately got my 0116 code along with now a 1681 code. The exhaust pipe seemed rather cool while running and the top of the intake was warm I guess I would say not steaming hot. The good news is the ski did NOT take on any water. If only I can remedy these codes

it's the engine temp sensor that is faulty, not the exhaust temp sensor which would throw a 544 code or tell you hi temp exhaust on the lcd like when you do donuts.

the engine temp sensor it at the rear top just above the oil filter.

the 1681 is normally a bad wiring connection with the lcd but can also be a failing lcd internally. moisture in them will kill them. pull the lcd out and check for corrosion on terminals and also check the wiring harness.

Dunno 'bout the 1681. You been flipping this ski?

For the 0116....try this...relatively painless...sometimes does the trick. With the ski outa the water....engine off...remove the water line that feeds the water box. Blow into the the line. You're attempting to clear any crap that was trapped in the screen in the pump.

Reconnect the line and take it for another run. You'll know right away if it solved the prob.

nope i wish i could do a flip haha. i will check the lines and fuse box. im pretty sure it needs a temp sensor for sure like previously mentioned because im pretty sure this engine is not overheating.

So I called the dealership I bought this off of an they said I could bring it in and they would look at it for a price. Mind you I put 2 minutes on this ski before it started throwing codes. If your ever in the market I advise you to steer clear of mosites motorsports in western Pennsylvania. Looking like I'm gonna bite the bullet and try and try and do this sensor myself. Hopefully a new sensor does the trick. I'm assuming minitonk has the best prices?

If you bought it within the last 30 days.. It should still be covered under their warranty..
