The 800 is plenty powerful enough to wavejump. The GSX with the 800 would be a happy medium of stability and power. The X-4 though (96xp, 97-99 spx) was born to jump and the power to weight ratio is the best they ever had.
we've covered the DI issues at length...
bottom line, unless your really really experienced with DI's, your going to be in over your head immediately, very complicated, very hard to diagnose, very expensive to repair.
wow theres no jetskis in south oz this might tickle your fancy but not the price tag his asking $1000-$1500 to much but no wonder his asking so much u have next to no skis down there! u might need to make a trip to melbourne mate i just seen believe it! a seadoo GSX 2000 model with a blown engine sell for an incredible $1225 i was pissed i blew my cash before i seen the auction it was in melbourne
EDIT i get it why there are no jetskis down there because south oz is the home of the great white shark and we all know jetskis look like a surfer, seal, swimming no one wants to ride a jetski
nah mate no bodge jobs done heres the pics i know its my old jetski from the guy in the pic and those eye anchors used for timber the guy i bought it from put them onto it tie it down for god knows why lolHaha no you see my struggle! This seadoo I'm looking into he wanted $4900 but dropped down to $3500 because he needs it gone by the weekend due to moving out and the motor issue. I've seen an indenticle ski at my local seadoo dealship selling for $6500 in no where near as good condition as this one.
But from the sounds of it the DI isn't worth the headaches?
I have considered travelling to Melbourne, freight is roughly $800 but can't inspect before I buy, But driving there would cost me about $300 in fuel there and back. Gazza that's why I asked you if that was your ski In that link, seems like a good price. Any bodge jobs done on it by the previous owner?
Haha but if it's still for sale and I don't get the one I'm looking into now, I might consider the Melbourne trip!

this one mate http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Seadoo-G...g_Water_Sports_Watercraft&hash=item416eb58502
it will have the 720 or 780 motor i dont know anything about the 951's so if others are saying stay clear of them they must be a troubled engine
720 is the most reliable engine ive had it'll do around 85kph and imo the more modern 4 strokes are better for skiingIt says in the listing it has the 720 motor, how powerfull are these? Enough to pull a skier? Jump waves etc? What are the GTI's?
Ah yes I have seen that one, how much do you think it'd be worth? $3500-4000?
I don't know have had mixed opinions on the 951's and they have said they are harder to work on.

mate they have the 580 engines in the 3 seater seadoo's! of course they get up and go my SPX which was a 2 seater carrying 3 would still get up and go and it had the 720 engine seadoo wouldnt put a engine into a jetski if it wasnt capable of doing a job and that being carrying 3 people for recreational fun the 580 engines were 55/60hp the 720 is 85hp the 780 is 110hp and 951 is 130hp not much difference between the hp's from the reliable 720 and 780'sDo they have plenty of power for hitting big waves and rough waters? I don't plan to use it heaps for skier's just once every now and again. I would of thought the 720 would be a bit underpowered for the GTI Hull being that it's a bit bigger than a gsx.
ive grown up my whole life riding motocross bikes i havent ridden the GTI but my GSX was nice to ride comfy just the handle bars felt a little low to me to stand up and ride otherwise a great ski but going from the 720 to 780 u have power valves that will need cleaning where as the 720 doesntIt's hard coming from a dirtbike background where a bike is judge majority of the time on it's motor! I'm not really after top speed more so take off speeds and cornering. Would a GTI Handle the same as a GSX sort of thing? Obviously the XP's are nimble, corner well and unstable.
Just a bit put of by the DI (I assume that's direct injection?) after what spimothy mentioned in his post.
Well my plan is to either get a GSX, GTI or this RX DI, the guy had someone come look at it today and apparently he recons it needs a top end rebuild, but he doesnt have the time to do it. Price is now down to $3200. I had a top end priced at a local dealership at $1400 incl labour, which would bring the price up to 4500 roughly. I'm not too keen on splitting a motor and rebuilding it myself.
That said they have 951 DI motors on ebay bidding at $1500 exchange with fully overhauled top and bottom motor. What would be more labour intensive, top end rebuild or motor swap?
