Hi guys, would it be possible for me to add an engine temperature gauge to my 2001 Utopia 185 (Optimax 210)? With two catastrophic failures, I'm a bit paranoid now that this boat is mine and I just don't trust the alarms. Right now I have a couple of cooking thermometers sitting on the heads but I would like something a little less ghetto ;) Any suggestions on what I could do?

Thanks,
Dan

Check out Koso gauges. I use them on my snowmobiles, work very well! The sell hose adapters too so you can just cut the coolant hose in the middle, put a hose clamp on each site, install the adapter and clamp it down. Although I am unsure how the cooling works on those boats. On my snowmobile I drilled then tapped into the bleed valve, but I would assume the boat is different.

If you do in fact have the 210hp carb'd engine, the Smartcraft monitors will not work...however, if you have the 200hp Optimax or the 240hp EFI...the Smartcraft monitors will work with your motor...
